Last weekend, just to relax and spend the spare time, I strolled around in the shopping mall near my house. Oh, it was so crowded ! Many shops in the mall were going on summer sales, offering huge discounts on many different items. So, shoppers were so excited about that, grabbing things while they last. How about you ? Do you take advantage of seasonal sales at the shops ?

The first weekend of the August Virginia had a tax free weekend for school supplies. I needed some college ruled paper and I got it! But summer fashion? No I don't need anything. I'm good with clothes.

Is that back to school supllies ? Yes, here too. I bought a few things at amazingly low prices, file covers, ruled paper, ballpens. Of course, necessity is the criteria , right ?

Oh yeah for sure, I def take advantage of summer sales!! You get really great things that maybe you wanted all summer and couldn’t afford! And ok yeah, so the summer is over, and you maybe won’t get to wear the things until next year BUT by next year, what you wearing will be different from everyone else, because everyone has bought that top, or those shorts this year and are wearing the, but when you buy it in the sale, come next summer it’ll be new to you! And no one else will be wearing it because they will be wearing new stuff that they spent a fortune on :)

I understand what you mean. That's very interesting. Depending on the kinds of things on sale, one has to think of course. One has to make good choices.

I like to go to sales when I can, but I do the same as with my grocery list: I will not buy anything I don´t need just because it´s cheap. I used to do it though until I discovered that I had more towells and sheets than what I needed and did not have a place to put them away. So I gave the surpluss to my daughters and my excitement is curbed my my real needs

Oh yes, you are very wise. I would not buy things either unless I really need them, regardless of the prices.

I certainly do. If ever there is a sale, I always try my best to go there just a few minutes before the opening of the mall on the first day to be able to get the best choices of goods before they run out.
I buy the necessities in bulk while the rest will depend in my criteria:
a) Do I need it?
b) Will I use it?
c) Is it worth buying?
d) Do I really want it?
If not, then never mind. I don't care if it is on sale.
With prices of goods going way up above our budget, you have to be smart and use your money wisely.

Yes, I certainly agree with you. Necessity is the criteria for me too. Besides, I noted that some of the items on sale are poor qualities, damaged, rejects, and so on.

My wife does and that automatically includes me on it. Everytime there's a sale in a nearby mall, she always makes it a point that we go there. I'm always the driver and the bag carrier for the things that she bought. I'm not complaining though, it may sound like I am but I get new stuff from my wife whenever there's a sale. I usually remind her to buy me some tools or accessories for my car that's on sale so it is a win win situation.

Oh yeah, that is indeed a win win situation. I suppose that's win win situation for her too, because you may have to be carrying very heavy stuff. That's great for both of you , right ?

I have heard they are supposed to be having sales, but then I hear how manufactures are raising prices on the items...adding a few rhinestones to pockets and raising the price of the garment $5. The reason they say is because people aren't buying at the regular price, so they jazz the garment up and then tell you you are getting a much better garment...and for only $5 more!I am not looking for much in sales this year...2 years of recession and unemployment and people need clothes...so they will only drop prices so much...people need to replace clothes from 2 years ago now. Or they raise the price and then do a BOGO half off. I am not looking for to many GOOD sales. Hope others find them!

Yeah, I can understand what you are saying. We all have different preferences, for the things we wish to purchase and the prices. Prices may be misleading some times.

Oh heck yes! I have bought wayyy too much summer clothes from consignment shops and regular stores on super-duper clearance! I love clearance/sale shopping! Especially because usually they go on sale halfway through the summer, so you still have the rest of the summer to enjoy wearing them! I know there are still a lot of sales going on but I'm trying to stay away from them as I literally have bought at least 30 new shirts, 10 new dresses, and 5 new pairs of jeans this summer (none of them being over $10 a piece!).

Here in India we have so many festivals around the year, during such there is always discounts of 10 to 20 % is common, but some times they increase the price by 30% and give you discount of 20% on that enhansed price tag.
I prefer to buy from shops that charge the right price
Thanks for this discussion
Have a nice day ahead.

Some of the shops do carry very expensive items, and may not be affordable some times. One, of course, has to think of options.

Yes, that's what attracted my attention at the shops in the mall. The clothes they were selling were so colorful, and so pretty. Selling men's clothes and women's clothes at remarkably low prices. And, there were long queues in front of the cashiers.

of course! sales are the best thing that can ever happen. The only down side is that it's always crowded, you have to get their early, and the lines are huge.

Some of the shops are offering upto 40 per cent discount. That is a huge saving, indeed. No wonder why shoppers stand in the long lines.

Yeah I do take advantage of shop/mall sales given that I have something that I like in the shop. Share this concern on www.lifo.com where girls can freely share their views on beauty and fashion.
