I received an unknown text message yesterday. Here's the text message:
How are you? This is my new roaming number. My previous number got sim blocked. By the way, I will send home some package and some money too, in the package there are some cell phone units, you can get one. Can you load me 300 pesos so that I can sent text/sms message. I miss you all so much! God Bless!
I received these text messages before and they are scam. I don't reply to them at all. They will pretend that they are your relatives from abroad and will ask to send them load. I read online that there are actually people who were victimized by these scammers. I was irritated and sad at the same time. Have you received these kind of text messages before? Is it the new roaming number scam or you win this you win that scam?

That kind of text message has been around for many years already and I have received that many times before. I just usually ignore them but one time, I was in the mood to ride on their scam. I replied saying something like this in Tagalog, "Oh really? Keep it up (his scamming). Don't bother to send me packages, let's just chat in the computer........you'll die too someday liar!" Hihihi....I love it when my maldita side is brought out by very irritating people.

I want to ride on their scam as well. Like I will tell them that I can't send a load but I will deposit on their bank account. In that way, I can track them. I wonder if Imbestigador will be able to solve this.

Hi chiwasaki!
I think I've received all kinds of sms scams already! I've also received a similar scam like yours, also from someone pretending to be an OFW. Sms scams saying you've won this amount and the texter was an attorney or something and that you have to call him to find out the details of how you can claim the prize. Sms scams saying they are your family or friends borrowed a cellphone from a stranger just to be able to text you to ask for load because they are stranded or something. It's really annoying.
Actually in our office, we are suspecting that someone is pretending to be someone and scamming anyone from the office! Someone has already pretended to be me and sometimes pretended to be another person asking for load. What's more annoying is that they are so believable that they are successful in their con.
There was a time I replied to a scammer saying I've won something. I replied and said I will report him to NTC. It didn't affect him. He just sent me the same message again saying I've won something. Really unbelievable, frustrating and infuriating.

Infuriating is I guess the right word when you receive these text messages. I read a story from a the web. The receiver of the message, replied to the number that he will track them down and make sure they get what they deserve. The scammer only then replied " I will kill you". It is indeed scary but what right do they have to tell that to people. When they are the cheaters themselves!

I also received those kinds of text. The text messages will include a certain name of an attorney that you need to call. Something like attorney Lopez or attorney Ayala. There's also a DTI permit number, really funny and irritating as well.

I also received this kind of text messages many times. At first I thought it was true, so I tried to call back the sender set in mind that she is my relative overseas. The sender didn't answer my call even I called many times. So I didn't send the prepaid load she ask for.Fortunately I did not lol! Lately after hearing from my friends and relatives,I found out that it is a scam.

I used to received this roaming text scam way back 3 years ago. I though it was my cousin from the states. However my mom told me that my cousin would not ask me for load since he is much richer than us.

Hi chiwasaki!
Seriously, this people really do the darnedest things! I've experienced that. The message read: "I'm here now in Japan but I forgot to load my cell. Please send me 300 load so I can call Nanay."
I really don't understand what's wrong with this people. Do they just do this for fun or is it that they don't have anything better to do in their life?

They don't do this for fun. I think it is their they consider this as their jobs. These scam text message is already similar to kidnapping and carnapping. It is already a form of cheating, fraud and stealing.

yes I have underwent lot of scam messages like this but I mostly ignore it because most of friends and relatives will only make call and are not too used with sending messages so I can find it out that it is a scam message. These kind of scamming has become very popular now a days. I don't know why people are sending messages like this to cause trouble to others.

Yes they are very popular and there are a lot of victims of these kind of scams. Mostly older people who thought that it was a relative from abroad who sent them these text messages. I also don't get it why some people love to cheat other people.

In fact it is quite common for us to receive the SMS or call scams here. I don't know how they get our phone number information and I really hate it. It is quite annoying. This is why I hardly pick up an unknown call. If it is a SMS scam, I will just delete it right away.

Telemarketer calls are indeed irritating. They will call you up to 3x a day. They will even force you to sign up to their products. They are even rude to you if you decline properly.

I also receive this kind of message for how many times already and thanks that I've never been a victim of this. One time I tried to text back and ask some details, the sender didn't text back and didn't answer when I tried calling. But my mother, she almost fall in this scam, coz she taught that its our relative abroad who texted, thanks that my brother was able to interrupt her transaction!

I just deleted those text messages as well. But I really can't help to be annoyed with these scammers. I just know that they will get what they deserve for cheating people.

The latest message that I received similar to that is that I won 200,000 pesos. But there are requirements that I need to meet. First I need to talk to a certain attorney for him to give the details. But I also need to give him about 500 pesos load credits so he will be able to call me and discuss how will I get the money. It is really a scam!

Whenever I get these types of messages, I would text them back and ask them what my full name is or random questions about myself. They usually don't reply but since my load just goes to waste on expiring a lot since I don't text much, I spend it on these scammers. This is also the reason why I really don't like cellphones that much.. lol
I think you can report these types of scams, I found a link that might be useful if ever you encounter this, here's the link:

Be careful always and never trust a stranger!

I called a phone number once but they don't actually answer your call. They don't even reply to my text messages. Probably they are just waiting for them to receive the load.

I haven't receive the same message but last week I received a text message informing me that I won a certain amount of money from a raffle draw. It says there that i should call him because he is a lawyer.
I didn't join any raffle game so why I should won something. weird right? But I know it is a scam message so I just ignore it.

Exactly, they are using a name of a certain lawyer or attorney about these scam. Probably to make it appear like a valid raffle. They will also include permit numbers of some sort.

I received such text messages before. They even call you early in the morning and late at night. I just usually hung up.

The best thing to do is just to ignore this kind of text messages. Common sense alone would make us spot the inconsistencies of the message. I once received a text message carrying the same substance like the one sent with you. I just couldn't reconcile the idea that a person working abroad had enough money to buy expensive appliances to send but no money to buy airtime load.
Now that there scam tactics are exposed, expect that they will think again of another way to fool people to get their money. I notice however a common denominator why these scammers are so effective - they all appeal or play on the human character called greed.
