How would you handle an irate person like a customer, caller, student, worker and especially a boss? I was pissed off when one of the students I talked with on the phone and told me something when I first greeted him. When I said, "Hello! Good evening." He answered, "Hi. What's good in the evening?" He tried to make fire just on a few seconds. How do you think I could start my lesson after receiving this response from him? I just peacefully forgot it and concentrated on the things that I could do in order to shift his attention. In a long run we ended our conversation so I said to him to have a good night. And still he gave me negative response. He said, "how could I have a good night. So don't say have a good night again." I just nodded and said okay. (sigh) Do you have any experience like this? Could you share it to me?

I would try to ignore these kind of answers, though I would asked myself if he is asking for attention or just loves to behave like a clown. I never had a conversation like that but it would annoy me and it would be hard for me to stay friendly on long term. There is nothing wrong with wishing someone a good evening or night or day.. it's up to the other person to make something out of it (even if it's hard) so if a person like that would keep answering me each time with his "smart" answers I would tell him that and end the conversation.

I actually stop saying that to him/her now. I just try to be into his/her words that he/she likes to hear. Luckily it works...Now we have better discussions than before.

Yes i live with one.Even if he doesn't do anything, just his face irritates me.I never liked him from the beggining.I've learned to tune him out and just ignore him. He's not important enough for me to spend time listening to him.

There are people who are really mean. They do mean things for fun not knowing that they hurt other people's feelings already. But the best thing that we can do is just ignore them. Don't let them feel that you are affected. Though, it is hard but trying is still an option. Don't let them ruin your day.

Hi, I do not think the person you mentioned here is with normal humour. Since you know his bearings it is better you avoid him. I can understand this is a matter of manner and etiquette with your teacher and the frustrating thing is that you can not do anything about it.

Yeah, you're right. In that case we can say that everyone is unique and has its own differences...

I handle irate people all the time at work. It's tough to handle these types of people but if it's your job, you have to cope with it. You have to be calm and patient.

Yeah.. I ever met that kind of people. They are really like to play with words, being absolutely unfriendly, and sometimes really annoyed me. To handle this kind of person, I am just doing a simple step: ignore him and just take his words easily. Better being a little bit insensitive. Because if I am being far too sensitive, maybe I would be in rage And sometimes, I am doing things that he usually done to me, so he can get know how irritating he was, when he was doing it

Good to hear from you and your steps of avoiding or insisting to listen his story. I think his stories will be entertained when people have nothing to do. When boredom strikes, he can be a story teller, an entertainer. That time we can have fun with him and just have something to talk about...
