I was walking a while ago on my way home and well i saw this man was about to go up the building he was actually smoking and then he just threw the cigarette butt on the street as he blew some one last time!!
wow. i caught his eye and i looked at him and then back at the cigarette butt on the street. The nerve!!! The street is not mine but he is sooo irresponsible. there was a trash can and an ashtry on top of it in the building, why can't he spend some time to put it off and throw it properly?!
as a smoker, do you have the same habit? what's up with this? i just think they contribute to the trash in thee streets!!! haayy its frustrating why they are not even concerned...

The phenomenon you see is not limited to smokers. In my daily life, I also see many people throw the rubbish in the streets. In my view, it's just one of their habits. They don't realize that their conduct will negatively affect others in the society. In order to improve such phenomenon, I think there are mainly two ways. One way is to strengthen the law enforcement. Those who are found throwing rubbish in the streets should be fined a lot so that they could learn a lesson. The other way is to teach the children what's the right thing to do in the society so that they could behave like a civilized person when they grow up.

I agree we live in a tourist area. Our beaches we are told are one of the top ten in the world. So people come to see. if you saw the litter I have picked up when I take a walk on the beach it would make you sick.
Can you imagine what the bottom of the ocean looks like? or how many fish, sea animals we have killed because we could not pick up something and throw it away.
Spring Breakers are the worst. They come on mom and dad's credit cards driving their cars and do so much destruction to our beaches with the I am out of school and I don't care attitude.
I just know this many kids were not raised this way.
Took a walk on the beach one day and there were litterally 12x12 inch square pieces of plastic foam type material. I picked up the first one and then as I stood back up I saw more and more of these squares. I assume people used them to sit on to not get sand on their clothes. But they just got up and walked away from them.
I picked up 13 of them. Can you imagine the plastics getting into the ocean?
My son who turns 22 in Dec just freaks out when he finds trash on the beach. He has a great respect for the ocean.

This types of events are really frustrating. This is quite similar to situations where a small trash is thrown on the street instead of holding on to it for a while because for sure, after a few seconds, you will find a trash can (a candy wrapper for an instance). That guy you are referring to, does not only contribute to the trash in the streets but also to pollution. That smoker will sooner or later get a sickness because of that habit (I mean, the smoking habit).

I get frustated because of this aswell.
It takes several years before these butts are completely broken down by nature. Certainly because there are always and everywhere so much of these trash can with ashtrays, it's really not that hard to just place them there.
I also often see people when they are driving the car, they are smoking with their sigarettes hanging from the side of the car and then when they are finished they just throw them outside on to the road or in the grass next to the road.
I just feel that they are truly so selfish ans irresponsible.

While we raise our children proper it is up to them to continue good habits once they are of age.
I think some rebelled silently while doing chores around the house etc, and being of age now they think they can do whatever they want to do without feelings of others.
I was in basic training in the Army. We had to keep up the grounds around our barracks. One person out of the platoon was on butt detail every day while we did our basic. I did it one day and I hated the way my fingers and hands smelled from the nicotine.
I just remember washing and washing them to get the smell off.
I have never smoked so I did not see why I had to pick them up except it was doing something correctly because our Platoon Sgt told us to.
Personally glad I never had to do it more than once. But I was not one to get into trouble to get such extra details either.

same reason as people trow gum on the streets... see it this way, you don't have time to go for a trash can and it isn't many ways to put it out but trowing it on the ground and stamp on it. i'd say it's worse to trow gum because it sticks to the ground. and my opinion on rubbish on the streets are: as long it is'nt a slum i don't care

it's bad isn't it.
especially when you consider that some of the people who do this wouldn't DREAM of dropping a crisp packet or other litter. somehow they think that it doesn't count. even though a filter takes many years to decompose.
it's a really ugly kind of litter, and it IS littering.

I use to smoke. I haven't smoked for 6 days now. I am trying to quit because it is a discusting habit! I don't want to get a disease like Cancer either from smoking. When I use to smoke, I would never throw my butts in the street. If I was walking down the street smoking, I would make sure the butt was out before throwing it in the garbage. If I was smoking in my car, I would make sure the butt was out and then dispose the butt in an ashtray that was in my car. It would drive me NUTS when I had seen people throw the butts out their car window or down in the streets. I was a smoker, but I still cared for the environment. There aren't too many of us out there, but we do still exist. I hope I don't start smokign again though...I don't want to die from Cancer.

those people who doesnt care to their nature are the irresponsible human.
they doesnt have their proper attitude to their selves so they are not aware if it can cause a bad thing to their nature. human proper etiquette is a must..

I live in Taiwan, and we have rules that forbid littering, but no one cares, people would use an ashtray if there was one, but when people are driving they just throw them out on the street when they're done, I find it a disgusting habit but people don't seem to give half a damn.

I am who do not smoke and hence due to this simple reason reason I don't throe the buts on the streets
Well, I had seen many of them who just throw the wastes to the streets. I felt this activity as an activity done by an irresponsible citizen to the land. The only thing we can do is just to understand what the mistakes they are doing. we can't force them

Yeah, it's always easier to just throw it wherever when no one is looking. I also do that but most of the time I try to be responsible and look for a garbage to throw them in. Besides, throwing them on the sidewalk is much safer since throwing them in the trashcan can start a fire.

That is an example of unethical behavior. Didn't he realize that a small trash when put together, is really damaging to mother nature? He should put it first in a paper and keep inside his pocket if trash can is not around. Otherwise, eat it.
