I'm wondering if the relationship status "it's complicated" the same as "a relationship with mutual understanding". I'm currently in a state of confusion and I don't know what my status should be. I'm somewhere in between "single" and "in a ralationship". Really confusing.

I know how confusing that could get. What I usually do is I only choose between "Single" and "In a Relationship" status so as not to hurt the one that I'm suppose to be with. I explain to her that I take the status in a literal way, if there's no official recognization from both parties, which means she didn't say Yes yet - then that's single. If you both agree, then you are in a relationsip already. For me, I think that the Status "It's Complicated" is only available for a relationship between man and other species and the "A Relationship with Mutual Understanding" is for people who's not serious with their relationsip or if the other one is cheating on his/her own partner . This is just my opinion about this subject, I'm not trying to make an arguement - the definition differs with other people.

Your definition of 'its complicated' status made my day. Its morning here and it just made me smile. I didn't even thought of that even in the slightest bit. Now, its complicated will mean a different thing to me.

i think this status is not really about mutual understanding. hehe or yes maybe close to that.. but my take is that the status meant you are in a relationship that is almost going nowhere.. its complicated because you can't stay out but you can't let go...

Facebook should add more relationship status. Would that also mean a "not official relationship" or a relationship not in the open or a secret relationship?

you can use "it's complicated" but the joke on facebook is that "it's complicated" means you're still "mhming" your ex... So I'd be careful using it. I've not changed my status in a long time so I don't remember how it's formatted, but maybe talking to your partner and asking them.. would help on both ends. Good Luck.

I'm also confused as well on what status you should put on your Facebook account. Basically if you don't know what your status is, probably you can just put "it's complicated". However it seems to me that "it's complicated" status is not really a status at all. When I saw a friend of mine on that "it's complicated" status, I initially thought that he is not in relationship at all but afraid to tell that they are single.
