All Work And No Play

Most workaholics prefer working all the time of the day paying little attention to relaxation and enjoyments. Such schedule is no doubt tedious and unwise. While working on certain things all the time finding no moments for merriment is detrimental to both physical and mental well being. Moreover it poses serious threat to family life as a whole. So working in all earnestness is okay, but if it exceeds limits it would be disastrous.Large scale computerization has brought with it the phenomena of scores of professionals working real hard day in and day out. All work might help in amassing stacks of money ...but it spoils peace altogether in all spheres.

There should always be a balance between work and living a life. To live a life is to enjoy what you have worked for so hard with your family. Isn't it that we are working is not only for ourselves but more so for our families. There is a time for work and a time to enjoy your fruits of labor. At the end of the day there's nothing more important but giving and receiving joy from your family.

You are really correct. At the end of the day, we expect joy from our family. I work so hard just because of my parents are becoming retirees lately. All I want is them to become happy. As long as they are happy, I am happy.

in these times of hardship, poverty, and other negative vibes, taking time out from work do not even get into my thoughts. i know i work hard for the family and they should also be grateful that i, as the father and the only bread-winner of the family have i regular job.

I know what you mean!! My husband is a workaholic and I don;t get it at all!! I wish he would slow down I told him you are working yourself in to an early grave!!! I learned that phrase from my mother and mothers are always right!! But it seems no matter how long or how much we make we never can get ahead and that is a sad thing!! But it is a part of life and no one said life was fair!!

In order to enjoy our lives there needs to be a balance between work and play and that is something that I've always been able to do. I grew up in a family where my father was a workaholic, but he also enjoyed certain things in his life that had to do with my siblings and myself. He was always coaching one of our sports teams and that was his way of having fun in his life. Yes, there would be times that we wouldn't see him very often, but when it was a sports season, you could count on seeing him on a regular basis for practices and games.

Life/Work balance should be maintained at all times. There should be a time to allocate yourself for your family and a time for work. If you do not have this balance in your life, your life will crumble into pieces. There should be no top priority on this, the balance must be maintained on a Harmonious relationship.

Agreed. In today's world, every one wants to spend more time at work. This need not really translate to Workaholics but it gets transformed to it at a later stage. People should understand that there is something called as Stress and it also needs to be burnt out by other social activities...Balancing life both on personal and official, is going for a task nowadays as being workaholics. I guess saying no time available is only an excuse !

My husband and I both work seven days a week right now but we try to take time each day for some enjoyments. We are trying to pay things off before he retires, is why we are working so much right now. We will enjoy life after he retires.

The wear and tear of mental work in offices and in businesses is probably far more taxing on the system than any physical work. And yet such 'busy people' talk, think and do business so incessantly that the only time off they take is ten minutes or less. These workaholics have no life at all.

As in everything there should be a middle ground. When people go too far in anything it can cause problems. Workaholics could have problems besides working too much. They need to find a way to work for work sake and not as if it were their very life. There is more to life than working.

Workaholics are there in every field. It isn't only those involved in computer related jobs. They can't keep a balance between work and other activities.Computer professionals run a risk to their eyes. But i feel other jobs don't have the same strain on health except if the conditions of work aren't up to the mark. These people spoil their personal lives, but i feel when one earns a fantastic sum through hard work it is very difficult to say no to more money coming in.

Yes, I knew a lot of people who really loves working day in and day out. They say they got nothing else to do so they just better go to work even on weekends and stay at work over time. I really believe that some of them really enjoy working long hours and spending their time in the office, but still i feel that they should have something else going on their lives. Stress is a big concern for them and their always fallback in life is working. I think they have no balance in life anymore. As for me I always see to it that I have rest and leisure time coming at me. Being overworked is a no, no. But of course, some urgent and important things can come out and stress me once in a while. But I make sure not all the time!
