If you haven't much money

I suggest affording to travel by working overseas if you can get a working holiday visa. If you can't get one of those I advise visiting cheaper countries. This would make a low amount of money last quite well. I think that a website like Flight Scanner can show you the cheapest airfares.
One person wanted to travel around the world but she couldn't afford it. So therefore over a period of five years she took as many trips as she could manage. She went to America and Canada on her first trip, to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam on her second trip. On her third trip she traveled around Europe for one month. For her last trip she saved up as much as she could and bought a return ticket to Australia on her credit card. So therefore in a space of five years she managed to visit North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. Doing all this was her way of seeing all she could of the world.
What do you think?

Most people here would have tremendous problems obtaining visa's and the "working holiday visa" just doesn't exist in most countries. With unemployment a major problem almost worldwide, giving jobs to foreigners just isn't on the cards unless it is comparable to slave labor wages!
The bucket-shop type of airline tickets are also not widely available outside of Britain.
Times have changed!

I have a British passport. If I went on a trip with my two kids to Russia, Mongolia and China I would pay ever such a lot for visas. I think visa costs are very unfair unless they are available on arrival for a low amount of money like ten pounds to enter Turkey.
I hear a lot about unemployment all over the world. I hope that the recession will soon end. When I couldn't find work in Britain and found it in Australia. Four year work visas are easy to get there for work like nursing. Fruit picking and packing are jobs the locals don't want to do. It is a shame that times have changed.

If you haven't a lot of money and you like to travel then people should consider working for an airline or as a travel agent. Then they could use the perks and discounts to see the world.

I'm too old to be getting a work visa to travel. I don't intend travelling much overseas in the near or distant future. The exception being Greece, where my daughter wants me to go with her on classical tour.
There is much to see in Ausralia that I haven't seen yet. In November 2010 we are going north of Cairns (north Queensland) to see the Solar eclipse.
Te woman you wrote about worked out her traveling very well. In fact, it was probably a better option, to do her trips bit by bit, rather than a round the world tour.

maximax8,
I remember when I was traveling free and easy in my younger days, I would look for certain odd or part time jobs like waitering or even provide English tuition or helping people with computer problems.
Nowadays, I just have so much air miles and accommodation points to enable my family and me to travel almost for free. So, don't forget to clock them when you make your trip and fill out those lucky draw coupons when you have a chance.
