What will you do if you're alone and you're away from home?
I'm currently feeling that way right now. I've just started with my new job a week ago but I'm working away from home. My rest day is during weekends and I'm alone with nothing to do. Good thing there's still myLot and an internet-capable handset that I was atleast able to fight boredom. It's raining hard as well that I don't feel like going anywhere. What would be the best thing to do if you're in my situation?
It's only during weekends that I can go myLotting as well since I have already a full time job. My computer is a desktop computer so I just can't simply bring it here. I'm currently using my cellphone to myLot. Actually I miss you all guys. I'm sorry also if I can't immediately respond back but I will whenever I have the time.
I hope I can get over this. I'm currently fighting boredom and homesickness. :-C

Awww, I'm sorry sais, I would probably love to be in your position, that way I can work on my story without interruptions.. But like you said, there is mylot and if it is raining, that's a great time to take a nap...LOL

Yes carmela. That is actually what I'm doing as much as possible gain new friends. Yeah I felt fine already but there were still moments that I feel sentimental. But little by little I'm starting to get a hold of it. I'm not very much familiar with the place as well so I take some walk or tour around the place whenever I have nothing to do. It's a good thing that the weather is fine again that I can go out and find something to keep me busy. [em]happy[/]

Yes carmela. Actually I've already slept a lot this weekend that I can't sleep anymore. I was really excited before when I wasn't yet here or haven't yet started with this job because I'm thinking the way you do. I thought that time that it would be great if I will be on my own but I didn't realized or imagined that it was really difficult being away from your family especially if you're not used to doing chores. Before, I just wait for the food to be served on the table; when I wake up my clothes are already ironed; I don't also have to do the laundry. Everything becomes different now but I just put in my mind that it's better for me to learn on my own because I won't be a kid/child forever. I won't achive anything just by staying at home and doing nothing. Sometimes, we also need to sacrifice. I guess I just needed to express it out. I'll feel better soon especially tomorrow because we'll be back from work.

Hi, sais06. I have been bored and lonely many of times before. I think that you should just enjoy your peace and quiet alone. I say this because I work all day long. If I was able to get a break here and there, I would choose to relax and be myself. I will have free time and I can take a nap, read a magazine or a book, eat my favorite food without rushing, talk on the telephone or maybe just go out to a quiet spot where I can just take it easy. I hope that you will enjoy yourself while you are off from work. I am just impressed with how you are able to write so legibly on your phone and not on your computer.

Well, it's not actually easy to do it to write legibly just on the phone but I've already started to get used to it. I've been feeling better and better now as time goes by. As I've said that I guess I just need some time to adjust with my current work and place. I've been doing well also with my new work, and I'm happy and motivated as well to overcome it. Thank you.

I am also in the same situation as yours however I started to be away from my family since high school so I am not that homesick as before. I fight boredom here in the internet and at the same time watching television. If I do not want to surf the net or watch television then I do games on my cellphone or I bother my friends and will talk anything under the sun.

Well, I wish I had a television here so that I have some options. It's just the internet that I have on my cellphone at the moment to spend the time. I guess I just felt homesick because I also missed the things that I normally do before and I'm not used to being bored as well because I always find something to work with at home. I don't also want to sleep a lot because I'll get fat as I'm already getting big. I'm already getting used to it. I just need to adjust with my new environment.

I worked in Dubai for almost five years even though i stayed with my bestfriend, there are times i feel alone too because my family is not there with me. Sometimes talking to them over the phone doesn't make me feel better because i want to see them and be with them but there's nothing i can do because i am working outside my home country. Normally i feel that way i keep myself busy or watch a feel a feel good movie or any comedy movie so i would somehow feel better. We all go through different phases of life. There are times that it feels lonely but it passes away.

I have actually a great admiration to those who work overseas. It's really a sacrifice for them because I know how difficult it is to be far from home since I have an aunt who also works overseas. Yes you are also right that this will soon pass. We just have to be strong. I believe that this experience will also be good for me because I know I'll learn many things in life when you're living independently. I felt fine already. Thank you all for encouraging me.

Yeah maybe I should stop thinking too much right now. I've slept a lot already that it's difficult for me to sleep now. I guess you're still a student, right? Maybe in the future you'll work far from your family as well. I guess I'll be fine again especially tomorrow because I'll be back working again. It could be that I'm not used to it because this is the first time I've been away from home this long and could be longer. Well, thank you for your concerns. I do appreciate it a lot. Have a nice day as well.

Seems that you've already gotten used to it, right? I did listening to music of the time but I felt really bored. Atleast I feel okay now because I got people to talk with here in myLot. I really wanted to test my independency as you have said. I just have to withstand this and I believe that I'll get used to it soon. Thank you for sharing. I hope I can be like you being independent already. I'll be fine since I'll be back to work tomorrow. :-)

I know what you feel. I'am also in abroad for about 2 months now, away from home and feeling lonely. You know your situation is better than mine. My off is only 1 day, 8 hours duty and we can't go out whenever we like to. There is schedule for going out here in al baha and their culture is very different from us. If you are bored I am more bored. At least you have the chance to go out every week. Mylot and computer is also my way of killing this feeling.

Yeah I can see that I have a better situation than yours. I think it's even more difficult when you have a different environment and different culture around you. Atleast I'm still within the country and still have the chance to go out with friends. Don't you have friends in your place that you can have a chat with or hang out with? Maybe we should get in touch more with our co-workers so that we'll have more friends to spend time with. I hope we'll both be able to battle this. Have a nice day.

Oh I can't imagine being in your situation. As you've said, it's really horrible. I don't know how I will be able to withstand that. How long have you been with your job already? I guess if I were in your case I won't last a month with a boring job. Why did you find it a boring job? I don't know if you have prepared for that because you might have not accepted that job knowing it was that way.
Well I just keep in mind that I'm not a kid/child anymore so I must learn how to be independent. I just hope that I'll get used to it soon.
Good thing is that I love my job and I enjoy it. I guess you should also start loving your job so that you'll be able to enjoy it as well. It's better to get well with your co-workers so that you'll have someone to hang out with. I hope you'll be fine as well.
