I work at a cellphone company as a sales rep. I do regular walk in sales and everyday tasks. Its not as easy as people think as theres a million things to know, changes everday, and believe me, if you ever had a bad experience with your customer service rep with your phone, we talk to the same people and dont have it easier so theres lots of room for frustration. My job howeever is a little bit different as we deal with larger corporate accounts for hospitals and government. Makes for a pretty cool day if you have an important well known person in your city sitting at your desk chit chatting with you. My jobs a bit different as I have a huge desk that customers sit at and all my coworkers have one too (little different for a cell phone store, but nice since sometimes we get stuck with a person for an hour or so) But i absolutely love my job as I meet some really cool people I would have never met if it wasnt for my job, I make commision on my sales (which is a huge bonus with how hard we have to work and for the amount of backwork it takes to do the job that alot of people dont know about) not to mention I help alot of people out in life in general. Throwing somepeople into a cell phone store is like throwing me into a mechanic shop. They could tell me anyting and id believe it. I take pride on the fact that im very trusted as i dont say anything just to make money, however i still close the sale anyways. whats your job and whats the duties entail.. do you like it or dislike it. Im sure with the amount of people on here we can come up with a pretty wide range of jobs on here

Hello Dear YoungInLove! I am a Post Graduate Veterinarian and working for a Stud Farm. We breed the Thoroughbreds for the purpose of racing! I am a resident Veterinarian which makes me to stay myself on the farm! Resident Vet means duty all round the clock x 7 days! I am looking after about 350 horses! I am responsible for breeding the brood mares and getting live foals out of them and having got the foals on the ground I need to raise them till the age of 2 years before they are sold to various clients, who in turn race these horses at various race courses! My job involves Scanning the brood mares, synchronise their ovulation and fertilizing them. Maintaining the pregnancy and monitoring the young one in the womb, regular vaccination of all the stock, regular deforming,Nutritional aspect, Exercise aspect and all other medical emergencies including treatments and small surgical procedures! The job includes a lot of challenges and always keeps one on his/her toes! There is lot of mental pressure and tensions prevailing on my head as we have some real expensive and fabulous/fancy pedigreed Thoroughbreds with us!!!! So My job is to get the best foal out of the mare and bring it up as a best racing individual so that my client could make some money and fame out of this horse! Since the time I have joined this farm we could manage to win a couple of Derby races, the top most race run in he country, prestige wise and also money wise and we are holding the record of winning 13 classical races in one season! Though the job involves lot of dedication, hard work, sincerity and understanding, I love and enjoy my job! It is rather now a passion for me and I thoroughly enjoy it! Luckily I have got very generous boss and he understands what is a Thoroughbred and he appreciates my work, which gives me added strength at this age of 50+ to discharge my duties diligently! We people are looked up very well on the farm with all possible facilities like providing free accommodation, servant, vehicle etc. apart from good salary! Since it requires Lot of time to devote,at the cost of my social life some times, my wife initially used to call a Stud farm as a Golden jail! But now she got accustomed to it and she appreciates my work!!!! I am working at the senior level and I have few junior vets working under me! The problem with these youngsters is that they get an experience of two to three years and they leave the from to join another! I really can't say anything to them as they are leaving me or their good! All I can do is search for a new Vets! This is the way I make my living and I am proud to say like you that I enjoy my job and enjoy the same! Thanks for the discussion,I liked participating in it! All the best!!!!

Dear YoungInLove! We have a Stud Farm with an area more than 150 acres. Here we make stables or rooms for the horses to be sheltered and we also make paddocks ie the enclosed or fenced opened area where the horses are let loose out side during favourable weather conditions! I am also having my House on the Farm,it is almost surrounded by the horses from all the sites except one, where I have a approaching road! So I am living this house along with my wife and now my son got grown up he has taken up a job of engineer near by! He has spend his childhood on the farm and he has done schooling and professional Engineering degree by staying on the Farm! My job is to look after the horses. I don't have any fixed time of working, as horses can become sick at any time and I need to attend them! The horses are just like family members and I can't see them suffering of anything! Since I have horses of different ages at any given time, i.e from young foals, year old ones and adult brood mares and Stallions, my job requires lot of attention and sincerity! This job is a highly technical in nature which gives me immense job satisfaction! My owner stays about 50 kilometres away from this farm and he visits the farm say once or twice in a month! The farm is being looked after by my Manager and myself and we try to do the justice to the horse and try to keep our flag hoisting at the best possible ranking! I have been provided with household servant, rent free accommodation with free electricity and water supply, a German made Car for my personal use plus all other facilities which normally a person at senior level gets along with a good salary package! Though my friends feel that the returns I get are not worth the hard work as my input into this farm, i don't pay any attention to these people as I am really passionate about my horses and I am loyal to my understanding Boss! Hope now you must have got a fairly good idea about the details you sought? Thanks !

This is actually really cool, and the fact that everything is paid for is good to, although you do put in a lot of work seems like you really love your job.

Hi! I have friends who work as sales representatives and other related jobs but I don't really understand their work although I understand how hard their work must be since I deal with sales representatives once in a while. I'm a research assistant in a government agency. We do researches on food fishes on how people can culture them so they can make it a living. Most of my work involves writing such as writing project proposals, reports, updates, accomplishments, etcetera. Aside from these technical documents, I also write all sorts of communication for my boss. But the best part is when I do field works. We go to the location of our research projects and activities. When we do that, we receive extra pay aside from our salaries. Happy mylotting!

this is really cool. How did you decide this is something you wanted to do. And how do you actually get into something like this. Very curious..

The only income that I have at the moment is from working online with the various jobs that I do. The main income for me at the moment is matched betting which I am enjoying, but I am sure that it will slow down soon enough when I have completed all of the offers that are open to me at this moment in time. When I'm not sorting things out related to the betting, I will write articles which will bring in a couple of dollars per day which is nice to boost up my income when things aren't going too well with the betting.

Wow, I can see that you are really making use of your potentials to the fullest. That is very good. I am into entrepreneurship, I have my own little business, I am my own boss. It is so little a business that I do not actually have people working for me. I do everything. LOL. I'm like a one-man band.

Hi YoungInLove (1000). I work as a Human Resource and Admin. Manager. I get to talk to a lot of people and I have to address the issues of our company with our employees. I get to know most of the problem of our employees from personal ones to career related concerns. Some of the people likes me but some hates me because I call their attention when they violate our company policies. The difficulties of my job lies on Organizational development. When we implement changes, there are some people who resist change. The politics is one thing that I hated most. But since we are in the HR & development, we need to establish a harmonious culture. We need to keep an open mind and always try to understand other people. I love my work indeed. But I hope to become a teacher. I prefer working with kids and establishing their foundation through education. You have a good discussion here. Congrats and see you around.

I took human resources in college. I found it very interesting actually. But i can see what your saying when you say its difficult. I personally dont think I would have the patience when difficult employees came to me complaining about policies. Im all for fairness in the work place but also know by experience how overboard people can take it and how difficult it can be to approach the situation. I hope your dream of becoming a teacher works out.

Hi! I work for a wireless carrier as a Quality Analyst. I monitor and Evaluate calls that transpire between CSR and customer. I basically make sure that all CSR's are giving quality service to our customers. Every Week I am tasked to monitor 40 reps and coached them one by one. And yeah I totally agree with you when you talk to some reps that are just hard headed and sometimes wont listen to your advice. Sometimes you just wish you can terminate that rep or shoot them in the head. lol But for me, I believe that this is the best job aswell. I dont have any complaints to say to my boss because she is very lenient and will always back us up no matter what and I have co-workers that i consider as my genuine friends rather than my friends outside work .I have gained alot of experience by dealing with different people everyday.Plus we have like unlimited breaks and lunches and we can arrive anytime at work just as long as we finish our reports at the end of the week.

ahh so we work sorta in the same line. Ive worked at a call centre before for a small period of time, wasnt my ideal situation. My coach, which pretty much does the same thing as you do with her team prob minus a few tasks, wasnt nice at all .. so it was never fun to have our weekly meetings with her. overall do you enjoy the job. its unfortunate in call centres, there are some people who love their job and will do whatever to help and then there are others who completely hate their job and are horrible at it, i ended up talking to someone the other day who was so snotty and attitude that i had to take a breather after the call to cool down, i should have gotten her name so she could have that call listened to. to bad.. overall though do you find the quality of service of your reps is pretty good...id assume youd say yes, but call centres can be so random especally with reps as they all give completely different service.. im kind of curious as to what carrier now. lol american or canadian or other

I'm a kennel worker. Some of my job duties are cleaning up after dogs (both ends at times), cleaning their living quarters, cleaning their runs, doing the laundry and dishes, and generally just keeping the kennel clean. Guess I should be called the cleaning lady. LOL But it's not all cleaning. I feed them, run errands, and stock items as well. I like my job for the most part. I like it even more when I get to work alone. LOL However, there are a couple things I don't care about it. I just don't want to say what they are. Happy mylotting!

Basically, I travel to different places to conduct the program and with this set up, I get to see different places. I love the work, though its quite tiring bur its generally fun and every working day is an adventure. I am glad that you like your job, that is the most important of all, loving your work and enjoying your work.

I stay at home with the kids, and my husband works at a local place. I am also a full time college student and study whenever I have the time. I was working about 50 or 60 hours a week and then left my position because i was not having enough time with the kids. I am a lot happier now, and a lot easier going. There was a time when it hit me that I had too much on my plate and finally I just had to stop one of them. Thanks so much for the discussion I hope this helps.

I don't like my job. Usually I receive calls to purchase order materials from our company and I will record down and pass the list to the store keeper to gather the stuff. Next I will prepare invoice and delivery order. Once in a week I will key in data into the account. Sometimes some supplier will come and sell their stuff and I have to entertain them. I hate my job. I don't like sitting in the office doing these stuff. I rather sit at home doing my stuff. I have worked in many companies before but all I like most is the call center company which I had only one responsibility to take that is to meet the sales target and I do not have to report to my superior how I should I talk on the phone because call center allows me to talk as I like except breaking the rules of selling over the phone. Nowadays I look for flexible job as I like flexibility.

Young: I am happy to know you are pleased with your job. good. that is what is required for ensuring success in life. You are lucky to deal with corporate accounts. Sales is one line where you can make more money provided you are able to put in efforts. I work as a freelance teacher while staying in chennai. we get paid based on per day basis. we may get work for roughly 15 days in a month. Sometimes less than that also. But I am aged 60+ and it is fine for me. I also write books for various competitive exams.

I like the whole concept of being able to make more money based on my skills. Always peace at mind when it comes to I find as if someone slacks they see it on their paycheck, so not everyone gets paid the same even if one is more succesful than another. Really cool that you have the flexibility though to do other things that make you happy.
