Hello friends,
I have always a question in my mind which continually disturbs me from long time.
As we know this is virtual world and most of us are virtual friends we all help each other by writing responses, suggestions, advices but have we helped any fellow MYLOTTER actually.
I read discussion in which people write that they don't have money to have food or to feed their kids which make me cry sometimes but nothing i could do for them.Have you ever thought of helping them actually?.But i know its tough to rely on the virtual people so easily then too i feel really upset when i read these discussion and try to help them but find my self helpless at that time.
Do you also feel like i feel?.

Hello sjvg!
Yes as you I too have been quite sad from time to time. I do weep at times when I read discussions about people having hard times. Online is no different for me as offline as well, where I too get saddened with anyone that is in need. So I do base the online feelings as I would offline too.
I do like I do offline where I need to know the person prior to lending the help. Sure we do get burned by people offline too, probably just as easily as those online as well. So all based on the fact if I can help and or if I can help at all. There are times I wished I could help someone, but only would do so if I can afford to be without the help I am giving. See like I heard a long time ago, that we should not lend any money to anyone unless we are prepared to loose it. If we can afford to loose the money then lending would be no issue because it would not hurt in the end if we were not repaid. therefore my friend I don't have any means to help currently so I do try to simply be comforting and or help with ways that they can help themselves with.

sv!
Your post reminds me one interesting incident. Once a good friend (read mylotters) from Philippines sent me a PM asking me to transfer some 5 dollars to her account, as she needed it badly. I was perplexed, however, I arranged to transfer $ 5 through paypal to her account. Later on she told me that she was just kidding and wanted to test me whether am a helpful person. I felt like a big fool after reading her comments.
I have no problem in helping my friends here on mylot, whom I know closely. In real life also I try to help those, who are in need and ask for it.

Hello DPK,
Oh that shows you are also a sentimental person and i would have also done the same as you did as i also like to help friends when i see them they really required my help.
But it was really a bad experience and people stop helping the actual person who require help after such experiences. At least i would rethink to help if i had such experience in the past.

I think sentimental persons are sometimes termed as 'fools'.
You are right this kind of incidents make us think twice and we may not be able to help a genuine person.

Not sometimes they are always termed as fools these days as people try to take advantage of them. I have personally felt it many times offline. I have lend money to many of offline friends and they never return it as per their commitment and when i have asked them to return my money back they replied as if i am borrowing money from them. That really hurts.

Dear sjvg! We will have to be bit matured in our thoughts and understandings here while dealing with virtual people! Here in my opinion people come up with their day today family or personal problems which are of mental in nature rather than physical! They require some advice or solace from fellow mylotters! all we can do is give our sincere and honest advise to solve the problem or to sort out their difficulties! Our simple comment about a dilemma can be a big relief to the person posing the question! Thus I think here people are coming up with the issues which require a sort of counselling or discussion like in our every day life chit chatting!!!!
I have not come across any member who has a complaint that he/she is too poor to feed herself/himself! I think here people are coming to make money on line, that means they are using a computer and they are hiring internet services, so how can you think that a person who can afford to have a computer and internet services can be so poor that he/she can't afford to have his/her food? I think such discussions (If at all there are any!) must be misleading ones and we must discourage one! Even admin.doesn't encourage such discussions where Charities are sought through this site! Act of Charity in itself is not a help, as by making charity a problem can be solved temporarily, but providing the practical solution to the situation is the actual help and this can be achieved on this site by giving a sincere and honest advise and opinion about the existing problem of anyone seeking the solution! Hope I am clear in placing my views?! Thanks ! All the best! !!!

That is absolutely true dear Reallysuny! That is what I meant when I said hat we need to be bit matured in our thoughts and understandings! we can't fake people forever! Pretenders are bound to gt caught if not today , may be tomorrow! With a careful observation , with the experience of our life we can definitely make the fake ones out from the genuine ones! The point here is, the Fake ones can also exist! Thanks !

When we register here we come with a thought that this is a virtual world and all what is posted here need not be factual. Having said this it is left to the individual to trust or not trust specially when someone places before the community the bad financial condition that one is in.In fact it is not appropriate to do so here at the same time as I said it is left to the individual to react or not react. I am a philanthropist in a small way in the real world where I have access to facts to study before I decide to give.

Hello allknowing,
Thats right this virtual world is such like people can never be trusted so easily its better to investigate before to rely someone. These things can be easily be detected in offline life but its very difficult to even investigate the facts in online life.

I haven't seen such a discussion so long and I couldn't help for my Paypal account is restricted now. And while it's sad, it's impractical to ask for monetary help here. That's my opinion.
I had been unwell some time earlier this year and talked about it. And a member offered help by sending some materials to me. Now that was really nice! I refused politely (....) but the feeling stayed. So I'd like to say some of us have indeed helped other mylotters actually.

Dear,
Yes it is really hard to judge people virtually. Even though we are happy to help them, we get bundle of thoughts whether they are fake? With this thought in mind, we really take back our steps to help them.
I haven't thought of helping such people, I will not encourage it. At the end of the day we should not be a fool isn't it?
So what I suggest is help people whom you know and leave the rest to the almighty.
Happy Mylotting.

Hi sj
Its good that you care about all other users here.. Even I do.. But I just read above response of mike and that is really upsetting me. It is good to help but if we get such experience that its really hard to believe. Even i was thinking same like you.. But now after reading above response i will think about it again.

It is so sad now that some people have ruined it for others. Those who would scam people have made the public so suspicious that it's hard to know who to trust. I will give people a few dollars but not more than that if they are total strangers. I figure if they are so desperate to beg, maybe they really need it and if not I haven't lost very much.

All we can give to our fellow mylotters are the usual help that we can to virtual friends, only advice, words of sympathy, etc. it's upsetting really to rad about these discussions but we have to think it out that they are mylotters and had access to the internet so they're not really unfortunate. They can afford to use the net. But for those mylotters who talked about their friends, neighbors, etc who are really in need for help that's more upsetting. I don't know if you also share the same view as mine.
