If someone asked you "Are you a christian ?" what would you say ? Probably "yes" but if we are asked how and why , many of us would fumble and say "I was raised by my parents in a christian family . I read the Bible , I go to church regularly or I am God fearing and so on . But being a Christian in the true sense is different . So friends please let me know why are you a Christian ?

I've come to see that any so-called "science" that contradicts the Bible has gaping holes in it. So have a number of other scientists far superior to myself (I didn't get much farther than getting a PhD in Biochemistry and an MSc in Computer Science). Just some examples: Christopher Pegington, Stuart Burgess, Edgar Andrews, John MacKay, etc.

Thanks adyz82 for your response . It is true that many are born into a christian family . But being a true Christian signifies believing in Jesus and following His path . I was born as a Hindu but in 2008 I relaized that He is my Lord and saviour .
God bless you !

I don't understand what baptism is actually as per scripture . I believe I am baptized at heart . I also have not taken baptism from the church with official documentation but like you I too believe in Christ my Lord and thereby proclaim that I am a true Christian . May you grow in faith . God bless you !

That's true. To be qualified as a Christian one should follow the path of God. Though I amin a hindu family, I am proud to say that I am a TRUE Christian.
I have not taken baptism yet. What do u think? Is it necessary?
In bible it is said that it is important .

I was personally visited by Jesus when I was five years old. It happened during a time when my siblings and I were living with abusive foster parents, while my mom struggled to find work and a warm place for us to live. After the visit, the abuse ended just as quick as that (three grueling weeks of it)and we suddenly got to go home.
Four years later, at the age of nine, I confessed my need for Him and admitted my sins and faults. That was when I felt this explosive presence approach me, and it was far bigger than I. It blocked out everything in the room. Honestly... it scared the crap out of me.
But.. this presence spoke to me, first telling me it was all right, that I wasn't going to be harmed, that it wanted to come to me... I don't remember exact details, but it dropped my fear and I agreed to it. Then came the feeling of undescriable peace, and the true feeling of love. And to be honest, that was the very first and only time I've ever felt loved. Not saying I'm not loved by family and friends, but I can't feel that love from them. It's not the same thing.
Sometimes.. I wish I could do it all over again.

Yes its true, now-a-days people are so called born-christian and not born-again-christian.
But, in my opinion, a true christian will say "Im a christian because I'm convinced about christianity".
Jesus has told us about Holyspirit who convicts us. 1 Thess 1:5 , John 16: 7-14
and therefore we could believe.

I accepted Christ as my saviour in 2008 after a miracle happened in my life . I have come to know and believe He is the son of God , the saviour of the world and the King that will reign for eternity . He can redeem my sins and He works through me . Hope He is your saviour too . God bless you !

the name "christian" was by divine providence as stated in the book of ACts in the Bible...That name refers to the followers of Jesus Christ..They were also known as THE Way...being christian is a way of life not just a name of a group one profess to belong...one is a christian if he/she follows the principles laid out by Jesus and imitate closely his steps...

Thank you so much for your response bensclai . You said it all . Remember the two criminals who were hanged with Jesus ? One made fun of Jesus saying "Aren't you supposed to be the Messiah? Prove it !" . while the other was humble and said "Jesus , remember me when you come into your kingdom"(Luke23:42). He truely believed Jesus was the son of God . That is true faith . Wish you a blessed life !

I'm not but Christians are Christians because they decided to follow Jesus;it is as simple as that.Don't you think so?
And about Bible? Do you think Jesus wrote one word in the Bible? No,it was written by other people.

You are right . But it is not faith in Christ for namesake . The true believe and trust in Christ and following His teachings in life makes a true Christian .
Nowhere it is said that Jesus wrote the Bible .The New Testament was written by his disciples and believers .
Good to see your interst in Christianity . God bless you !

I ought to be a Christian, because the Bible is true and anything that contradicts what it says in context is false. On a lower level of certainty, I believe that I have believed savingly on the Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, profess to be a Christian.

I am full of appreciation to read this post and your previous comment . That Christ is our saviour and the living God who works through us and redeems us of our sins makes us a true Christian .As the scripture says "For it is by grace you have been saved , through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast(Ephesians 2:8,9) . God be with you !

Now that's a hard question. I am Christian but I've never been asked that question before because I do go to a Christian school and most of the students are Christian. I don't think we should question other people's religions. It's something personal but if I was confronted with this question. I would say "Because I love God". Simple as that.

It is your faith and believe in Jesus Christ makes you a true Christian . You are young and I hope with years you grow strong in your faith . It is not others but your self inclination and trust which will bring you near Christ . May Christ be with you always and guide you in every way . Have a blessed life !

if anyone asked me that question i would say "because of my many experiences" because i have seen and talk to angels. i have received answers about some questions that i asked to god. i have seen the proof. i have seen how mankind acts. i know for a FACT that he is real. many call it a theory. i call them idiots. god gave me the strength to say no to certain questions. god teached me about how life really is. and what i realized is that our human body's are made to fail. we are not going to ever be able to govern ourselves. we will fail at an estimated 90% of the things we try at. and if that response dosent work. simply tell them this. have you noticed that the christian faith is the only faith that does not have a gap in the logic?
