I don't know how many of you used prayer to help those people under the threat of Irene, the hurricane. But do you think that it helped this storm reduce it's impact on the East Coast of the USA? Or do you think that it was all blown out of
a need for communication hyp and that the danger was overstated from the start?
Or was it all just another coinsidence? Me I prayed all night and if anything it helped me.

Prayer are very useful in situations which are beyond control of human , but prayer should be made from deep core of heart ,then only it is heard by god .
I hope soon this devastating hurricane will stop and people will return to their normal routine lives . but what is more important which get usually unnoticed by us is that why we are facing such devastating natural calamities so frequently and not just in one part of the world but nearly everywhere in some form or the other .
We have to really start asking ourselves that are we really irrtating the nature and trying to destroy its inner harmony and balance . as a result of which we are facing the wrath of nature .
Ecological imbalance can result into catastrophic situations which are beyond controlling measure of mankind and its technology .

Prayers can appease the fury of any incoming calamities that might cause devastating damages on lands. It was on our Sunday mass petition read in church recently to protect countries that might be hit by natural disasters. Those who believe need not fear as they will be protected by above.

Hi savypat, I don't think that it was overstated as it had all the makings of a massive storm. Prayer does help us especially affirmative prayer, and when many people unite in intention there is a power there. If, as many believe, we are all a part of God and one with all that is, it would seem to make sense. Blessings.

I prayed and truly believe that prays helped. Thankfully the impact was not what we thought it was going to be. I live in Puerto Rico and it hit us first but the most damage was in the San Juan area. I live on the southwestern part of PR and we got alot of rain and winds but thank God no damage at all. I don't think it was blown out of the need for communication. I think they rather be safe then sorry. They didn't want another Katrini to happen.

Prayer is our way to communicate to God. If we pray wholeheartedly and faithfully then God will provide us the best possible result, it doesn't necessarily mean that he will grant the one that we requested but he will be providing us the resolution for our problem. It is important to take actions and not just to pray hard because God uses instruments to answer all our prayers. Who knows that God uses each and every one of us to grant our prayers.

I think prayer helps. There are studies that document that people are helped, even when they do not know that they are being prayed for. I am sure that many in the path of Irene KNEW that people were praying for them, too. I do not think the danger was overstated or blown out of proportion, I think the weather changes a lot, all of the time. There is really no such thing as coincidence, and I can see how praying helps and soothes the person doing the praying as well as the person being prayed for.
