I suggest that you follow what your heart and mind wants. If you aren't fulfilled with your job today, look for the one that will satisfy and fulfill you. But of course, doing this will require a plan and recklessness is the is the least thing you need. Just go and experience and learn with your current job while looking for the job that you want. Always try to learn and broaden your knowledge. Having a lot of skills and broad and open mind will surely give you a lot of options on jobs that can fulfill your desires. Always aim to grow and learn and you will never go wrong with what you are doing.

I think I am fortunate because for most of my life I have worked for myself. I started off as a musician and used to travel a lot to gigs and seasonal work. I ran my own band and played keyboards. Then the music business got harder as live musicians weren't needed so much, so I went to college and trained as a therapist, a job that I loved doing and then got into Zen practice. I have semi-retired now, and work mostly on my computer, but still see a few clients. It is fulfilling work, but can be exhausting, but if I could go back in time, I would do the same things again as life itself I believe, is a great experience even with all its ups and downs. I am sure that with your major in language and culture, you will find the right work for yourself... _Derek

I think we all get tired of our jobs and want to change them. I dont know how long ive been at my present job but its been awhile. Im self employed. Im a cleaning lady. This guy i work for has 2 apt bldg. Each week i go to each bldg and clean the public areas. Sometimes there are empty apt to clean. He doesnt care what day or time i go so long as the 2 bldgs are cleaned each week. On the apts he can be pretty particular about what day they are cleaned but hes still somewhat flexable. All that is good. The things i dont like is he dont pay very well for cleaning of the apts. When there are no apt the total monthly pay isnt that great. He supplies the cleaning solutions vac, broom, mop. I have to bring cleaning rags, bucket, window squeegie and i have a lobby dustpan. I also have to take a bus so i use a folding shopping cart to carry it all. That can be a hassle. Im currently looking for other employment. Even part time will do.

I am a shift supervisor in an outsourcing company. I am definitely contented having it as my job. It helps me a lot with my finances. Although it is not as rewarding as having a big online job, but still, I have to be proud of it because I am much more gifted compared to those who are unemployed and have nothing to eat....such things should be the only thing that you should bear in your mind and be proud of your current job. It's so hard to find a job nowadays. The world is experiencing a massive job loss and I think you would not want to be part of the statistics...

Keep on looking that is my valuable advice. You can just quit this job and doing nothing at home at the moment until you found something you are really interested in. I will do the same. Actually, what I am working now is not related to what I studied in school. I just want another opportunity, and I can grab it, and prove that I am good for everything.

I like my job.. I work for myself as an independent contractor. I've had boring jobs before, but at least I got paid. My work isn't boring... I guess because I am working for myself and I can start and stop when I need to... my job does get hard though because it requires good eyesight... I have to look for mistakes in coding.

I use to work in an almost the same setting as yours. I'm a troubleshooter and I need to scan and read knowledge bases to obtain procedures. It became very tiresome to just sit around and face the computer all day.
Our supervisor once said that if you do not like the job, don't quit. Look for its replacement while working in your current job so that your learning and aptitude doesn't get dulled. I'm giving this same advise to you. Your job may be boring right now but someday you may grow to love it. If that doesn't happen and you find its replacement, at least you've gained experience and your drive wasn't stunted.
Good luck.
