Sending Care Packages

United States

Hello! Some of you know I've been writing and sending care packages to a soldier over seas. He's going home soon, so I am no longer able to send him stuff. I wanted to find a new way to helpt he soldiers (but one that wouldn't cost me so much every month). I'm not being cheap when it comes to them, I just don't have that much money. I found a site called Any Soldier that looks good. Soldiers can post messages on the site of things they need for their platoon...that way you can find your perfect "match" which I have done. I found a platoon of 7 guys who want books, and they listed their favorite authors and I have books from most of those authors. So soon, when I get the address, I'll want to send the stuff to them. My question is, has anyone else used the Any Soldier program yet? Is it legitimate? Any info on it is appreciated, thanks!

That's awesome! :) Thank you for spreading the word! I like that you can search by how many times an address has been requested, I always look at the ones that haven't been requested as much. Glad I have some books I can send to 'my guys' and I told them they can send me a list of ones they want.

I haven't heard of it, but I don't see any harm in sending books to anyone, soldiers or civilians. I give my used paperback books to anyone who needs them. Reading is important for everyone. It's not like they are asking for used books to make a million dollars on the black market. If you are sending them to a military address you can be sure that soldiers are getting them. We have a program in my country, Pizza IDF, were you can send a pizza or donuts or other yummy junk foods to soldiers. It's a treat for them to get something special instead of mess food or field rations.

It's not SO much what I'm sending (although it is a little part because I will be spending money to buy stuff to send), but I was more worried about giving my address to a scam program. But I have been researching them and they do seem legit. Don't worry, any care package I send always has a little junk food in there for the soldiers lol.

I completely forgot that most people don't have a PO box. I've had one for ages. I don't care who knows I have box# *** in my town. LOL It only gives my town and not address although I'm not hard to find. All you have to do is ask around for the crazy cat loving English speaker. If you don't get me, it will be someone who know me.

LOL! Are there not many english speaking people in your town? No I don't use PO boxes. But researching this organization a little bit tonight has made me feel a lot more comfortable sending stuff.

I have helped in the past on this site where we can purchase a cup of coffee for a soldier, and I have the FB on my list..If you want, the next time I see their status, I can share the page with you, because it doesn't cost much and yet I felt I help, even a little, when I used the site..

I can appreciate sites like that, where you pay for them to send stuff to the soldiers. But I do prefer to make my own care packages and supply it with goodies I've picked. And you help more than a little when you do things like that.
