What is the difference between 3G and Broadband technology?

There is a lot of confusion here since 3G services launched here in India.Specially people who use Laptops need wireless net connectivity so they were also excited for 3G usb sticks/data cards ..but so far 3G services are not as good as the companies have been advertising.Many of net users still using broadband usb sticks and as they say they getting better net connectivity than that of 3G sticks.
I know 3G is going to be best after sometime but I want to know the technical difference between 3G and broadband .specially in wireless internet access?

3G technology is said to be the next generation technology. Most of the existing USB DataCards belong to 2G technology. That's the difference.
As far as I know, none have completely launched 3G. Though they say they've launched 3G, only few areas are covered. So, if you are in a remote place, you may not experience the real 3G.
Other than this, I don't know too much technical things.

Oh well I am not in remote area I have used 3G service.Thats good only for video calling.vodafone,aircel and Idea providing 3G in my area.speed is better than 2G of course but it is not as good as I heard that we would be able to see live tv,videos.
I want to know here broadband usb modems/sticks and 3G sticks both are available.Can broadband usb modems/sticks give that performance of 3G?

Idea 3G speed is lesser than other 3G services. (It's official I think. I don't remember the exact speed, but I can say Idea 3G is lesser speed than others. Idea offers 3.8 Mbps speed, whereas it's 7.8 or above for other networks.)
2G datacards will not support 3G. And they can't give the performance when their maximum speed is very less than 3G. (Even if they can, operators won't allow otherwise they can't sell their 3G devices.

3g will give you good speed but you will not get large band width .that is you cannot do many task on internet together or else if you try you will freeze your connection.on other hand premium broadband service will give you 3g speed along with large bandwidth to do many tasks on internet together

Thanks for making it little clear so that means every service specially in use of net that claims to be faster and very good in everyways is not fully true as long as the providers are not providing world class 3G service.
what I could get from your reply is that even a broadband connection with best performance can give you the best net experience.
I realize what you saying I use 3G but during video chat I dont get that continuous video chat experience that I used to have when I was using broadband.
In 3G pages open fast but in two ways video chat through any messenger site gets frozen at times.
