Maybe our taste buds are already damaged that is why most tongues are not red. I just remember i heard it from a seminar on a certain food supplement. We have to take food supplements specifically anti-oxidants in order to remove all the toxins in our bodies which removal may return the cleanliness of our body systems.

I see many people with a white or grey tongues so if it comes to damaged taste buds this might be a good reason. Who knows for the colour also. I guess the fast food industry, but also meat etc add a lot to the food that might damage your taste buds.
Might be hard to remove all the toxins (you also get them out of the air, from medication etc etc). I wonder how much suppplement you have to take to get rid of all the toxin in the body and what time that may take.

Red?? No My tongue is pink only! I don't know why they say it should be red and I don't think we are sick or something if we don't have a red tongue. Maybe books are written by some people having problems remembering the names of colors!

I don't think that tongues should be red. Even babies don't have red tongue. Mines pink, lighter and darker in come areas. I agree with the other comment, if anyone will like to make their tongue red then they can eat beet roots but that will also make you teeth red which is a pain to get rid of.
