How do you compare the teenagers now and the teenagers years back?

What can you say? Do you think teenagers nowadays sometimes lack the will to be the best they can be? do you feel teenagers now are more into "live life to the fullest!" or are they just simply letting good opportunities pass by not studying well, by going to the malls more often.. by always hanging out with friends who sometimes are not good influences on them? do you feel or see the changes happening to the kids of today and how different they are from the kids say 30-40years back? Are they stronger, or are they weaker?

I think that today the teenagers have higher pressure than before. They have to study hard since the competition is heat today. Since many things can be replaced by the machines. And today the teenagers like to stay alone rather than going out with their friends. They spend long time on computer and hardly have time for the outdoor activities. I love China

oh, yes,.. i guess i agree with you on that. teenagers do have a lot of pressure in them now, parents struggling to make ends meet, parents who does everything they can to make sure their kids do all the best they can so they can be sent to school... so the kids are pressured to do better.. etc.. but i guess at some point since the best are given to them in this time.. internet, cellular phones, laptops, etc... its likke living is so much easier now.. they tend to disregard and they are not fully aware how hard life was, or how life can be...

Haha yeah! Teenagers in Asian families tend to be more strict, study hard to make their parents proud and gain a great future. In Australia, there's teenagers who do work hard, study and those who just party and think life is just a game of fun. I know a few people from my school who drink, party and don't study at all. I'm part of the study group who take education seriously. So it depends on the teenager.

I would say they are both the same and different. They are moved by different things because the world is different, but they are often passionate about what they want and do. They rebel (as we did) against the establishment because they want (as we did) to create their own roads.

hehe well yes, maybe there are a lot of things that we know that can be the same between their generation and our generation. often though there are many similarities but there can be differences too because life has changed so much too. =)

gosh, talking about teenagers today. i really couldn't understand how they are today compared to teenagers of our age. then teenagers do not even answer to their parents in disrespectful manner. we could not raise our voice when we are talking to our parents. we cannot say, i'll do it later when they are telling us to do the chores. we cannot watch tv unless we are through with our homework. we cannot leave the house without getting permission from them. today, teenagers are very disrespectful and unappreciative with their parents sacrifices for them to live life better and lighter for them. they sometimes treat us with the same level as they are.

haha i do not think there are a lot of differences but then they sure have a better life now. they sure have a lot to learn all right but i see them a lot of times just wasting their life away.

I believe teens nowadays are more liberal. Somehow, they grew up in an INSTANT world. Where everything is placed before them for convenience. This is a major setback. I believe them stronger in the sense that they are aggressive but weaker, because most of them lack the backbone of hard work and determination.

In my opinion, teenagers of today are lazy. They seem to think life is going to hold there hand and they seem to expect everything for nothing. I am not saying every teen is this way... but the average teen. Computers, cell phones, electronic gameing, the use of the internet, and cable TV, seem to be the common ground for most teens today. Instead of researching knowledge from a book at the library... they search the internet.... Instead of shopping at the store ... they order online... Instead of turning on a radio... they download music on their PC... Instead of having to call on the phone at home... they are able to talk no matter where they are... Instead of visiting a friend to see what has been going on... they text each other.... Instead of taking a walk or helping with chores.... they watch hours of television. Most of a teens these days are sitting in one place... living there lives. Working hard and having to exert any energy for the simple things in life are not heard of, and getting a JOB... is a dirty word. I think the present day choices have taken away the future "younger day" memories of life from the today teens.

Times have changed. From where I'm at, I think teens of yesteryears managed to keep their innocence for a long, long time. Today, with a lot of media influence and trashy shows on television, teens are getting more active and curious and they lose their innocence too early. That's too bad.

I think some are using their time and resources very well, we have teenager here on mylot and they are very active in their contributions. This is just a tip of how they lead their life in reality. I like it. The majority of teenager 'don't know what they want', and they use short cut to get what the need. They can have an opportunity to have whatever they need, but negligence or pride tells them not to because they expect to demand the same from their parents. I don't know how teenagers of 30 years back behaved but I think there is no much difference.

With your comment I cannot say that I agree with it, not 100% anyway. I know many teenagers that work too much to be the best they can be and burn themselves out. I also know a lot that don't try anything to their best yet don't live life to it;s fullest either. They absolutely let good opportunities pass them by though. But where your ideas of them doing things is was about what we did when I was a teenager and I'm 29 now. The kids today are so far beyond that laziness aspect it is ridiculous. I attribute that at least partly to the fact that society says oh you can't spank your child that is abusive. I say that because if a parent cannot take their child's discipline into their own hands then they cannot control that child. I am not saying that there isn't child abuse but the over exaggeration of it is disgusting. My dad whooped me if I didn't listen. It was a last resort but if he did it, it was because I deserved it. Parent's don't do that anymore for fear of being punished for trying to discipline their own children.
