Why there is a monopoly of youtube in internet world?

I am sure you all will agree that youtube is alone in its section of sites.But in this competitive time why there is no rival site for youtube today?
If you see facebook. Its most popular in social networking but we have other social networking sites as well with facebook like myspace ,friendster,hi5,orkut and many more and now google plus
There are many sites for downloading and watching mp3 songs and videos but I dont see any other site like youtube..

There are hundreds of video sites. Check out vimeo, break, viddler, revver, nelsok, flixya, metacafe, dailymotion. Check out Tubemogul, where you can blast your video to most of the above sites.

No doubt YouTube is number one among video uploading sites but it's not the only one. Saying that YouTube is "alone in its section" would be like a person using only Facebook says that it's the only such site out there.
There are many more and I think Megaupload.com is quite popular among internet users, also sites like Dailymotion.com, Metacafe.com provide good uploading facilities. But yeah YouTube is most popular just in the way Facebook is a hip thing among social networking sites.

You are right facebook is not the only networking sites.Facebook is very popular but that doesnt meant other networking sites are lesser than facebook in terms of providing new stuffs infact few networking sites are better than facebook in terms of security and privacey related issues.
Youtube is not just a uploading and downloading site infact they dont even allow to download their content we still do that with the help of few downloading softwares though.I only tried dailymotion and I heard about megaupload but that is a different category.As I know people can upload any kind of files there for sharing not just videos.
I believe youtube is popular because of its unique format of easy sharing videos..I dont think people use other sites you mentioned the way they use youtube not just for uploading but also watching the videos.

You haven't looked? There are many sites like youtube! Many are actually much better in that they are considerable faster. Also their search facilities are much more accurate. I never purposely use youtube anymore as other sites are more convenient.

Thanks you may be right but really I haven't heard site like you tube.I dont know any site where I can see the episodes of my favourit reality shows or old funny commercials and much more..if sites like youtube are there then they are not as popular as youtube I must say then.
The way people use youtube for uploading personal videos to share with world I dont think any other site does that through video content.for example if any sensational news or or video that is related to incident happening around if we missed that to see only heard about we only think about youtube to find that video for example what happened in egypt .what happening in lebia ..so if you have any site that covers the world in that way please let me know.I will appreciate that.(I am not including youtube with many xx rated site for videos)
