I must say its been one year and yet I cannot able to find a permanent job. I applied to different kinds of company, pass resume, do interviews and yet haven't found one. Maybe I'm just being choosy. I'm a nursing graduate and finding hospitals to applied is very difficult. What would be my other options? Can someone help me?

That is the sad reality here in this country. While in school, we are infused with the idea that this and that course would land us a good job but in the end, only those schools that we have attended benefited from our money. Unless you have a resume with the most impressive contents, then finding a job is indeed difficult considering that many hospitals have requirements that are usually above the regular. If you are really persistent, just try passing on more resume or you can try applying for jobs overseas, if you like the idea of it. Check out this site www.workabroad.com

It is truly a predicament by many graduates every year not just in the nursing profession. You want (and very eager) to work but you lack experience owing to the fact that you are new, fresh from the stem graduate and the hard thing is, this work experience is what the company wants. The problem sometimes with our educational system is that it focuses to much on academics. Students are so intelligent enough to memorize out-of-this-world medical terms, solve complicated mathematical equations, topnotch in board exams, but so helpless in finding a job that will let him earn and feed himself. Many, if not all, only begin to learn "jungle survival" after graduation and not during the school years. Personally, I find many educational institutions flawed in this area of teaching. Anyway, I hope you find a good job in that site. Be careful also in choosing the agency you want to engage with. A lot of job agencies are only after three things: first, money, second, money, and third, money without any genuine concern for the applicant. Good day Jackie! :-)

I know some registered nurses who find difficult as well in applying jobs. Some of them went for being a call center agent, some became teachers, then some are office workers. In my case I am applying as graphic artist and its hard for me to land a job as well. I am particular in terms of accessibility of the workplace. I don't want to work in place that has many vehicles to ride then my salary is not enough.

I think this is reality. That is the reason why our government should do something as well as the students to halt on taking nursing courses because they don't have any more work to land on, not unless as you said, you need to be choosy. Some don't mind working for call centers, others just grab every opportunity just to work. It is really frustrating to wait and that is why you also need some extra talent or skills in order to be a jack of all trade. Even if you don't apply for the course you finish, would that be okay for you? I'm sorry I would not be of help at the moment. Just pray to God that He will help you as you apply and hunt for a job there.

Have you taken the nursing board? That is very important. If not, review and do your best to get the highest possible mark. In the meantime, try the government hospitals. They are always in need of an extra hand.

A fresh graduate landing a permanent job in a hospital is almost impossible nowadays. Not unless you have the connections. Best course of action is to apply as a call center agents. I think a of nursing graduates end up as call center agents, who knows you'll like it. Besides, working in a call center pays more.

Most of nursing graduates here are considering BPO industry. Indeed its a high salary but for me its not a stable job. Someday you feel that you must practice your profession. Salary for me is not an issue as long as Im happy with my job. Although you are qualified for that position but if someone had connections inside you'll be left out.

I'm sorry Jackie but nursing just seems not to be the thing right now (call it bad timing), there are plenty of jobs but it's really hard to down grade becaude of what you finished, ever considered entrepreneurship? Perhaps you should consider business because your City, Cebu is really a good place for starting or budding businessman, but again that depends on you choice and preferences, good luck my friend

Hi Jackie, I totally agree with you that finding job here in country is quite difficult. Most especially in the field that you have considering that there are to many nurses around looking for job. But do not be discourage since I know that your time will come. You could probably do some voluntary work as a start or perhaps gather more knowledge for your resume. That way, when the right time comes, you will certainly have the edge over the others.

Thank you for the encouragement. I just feel depressed because I can't practice my profession. As for now Im considering doing volunteer work and attending seminars and training in Basic life support just to update my nursing career. I do hope someday I can able to practice what I've learned.

Have you considered going abroad. Do you know of any legitimate agency that you can apply/ Why don't you try passing your resume to Jobsdb.com? Most companies hiring are international companies.

It's really hard to find a job nowadays and the rising percentage of unemployment is a witness to that. Maybe you can try looking for other jobs that isnt within your field. After all many became successful in other professions even if they did not graduate from those.
