I am trying to find a way to recycle some of my old broken electronics and also earn a little bit of cash on the side. Anyone have any ideas?

You could try looking in your local phone book under recycle in the yellow pages. You could also look at this website www.guzu.com
Hope it helps!!!

Ebay - be sure you are clear that the items are not working, are "as is" and are for parts.
There are people out there that are willing to pay shipping plus a small price for broken electronics, They either repair them or use the parts to repair others. You will not make very much; but, it does recycle the electronics and it is better than getting nothing back.

There can be some dealers in the city you are living who buy old electronics, such as radios, TVs, computers, monitors, and so on. You might want to check that in your telephone directory, yellow pages. If just for recycling, places like Salvation Army will accept them too.

Your question had me intrigued because I have some old, broken electronics that I wouldn't mind recycling for some cash so I did a quick search.
According to an article on ABC news there are two websites called Renew and buymytronics which both pay for old electronics.
I don't know how good either site is because I've never used them before and I don't know if they have a minimum amount or if they might only be available for charities but it is worth a look and there are similiar companies that you'll find online.
