It just has to be said. I had lost all interest in current music and was stuck in the 80's. I only watched VH1 Classic videos and listened to radio that was "oldies" (primarily the 80's).
Then, I started hearing about this "person" - Lady Gaga. Everyone I talked to either loved her or hated her. She was constantly in the news and winning awards. So, I decided I needed to find out more about her music and see if it was as good as so many people beleived it to be.
I turned my music channel over to a Top 40 station because I figured that would be my best chance of hearing one of her songs. A song came on after a little while that made me want to just get up and dance. It had a great beat and the lyrics were interesting and catchy and there it was - I heard the word "gaga" in the lyrics. Now, gaga, is not a common word so I figured this may have been a Lady Gaga song and "I liked it". At that time, I did not know this was her song "Bad Romance".
I decided I had to hear more and find out more. There was a channel on my tv called "Fuse" and it seemed to be dedicated to current music and artists and I remembered that when I was skimming through the guide I had actually seen the name "Lady Gaga" in the listings. I started keeping an eye on their listings and there it was "Loaded - Lady Gaga". I made sure I was comfortable in front of the TV and settled in for 30 min of this musician. The music was divine, it was catchy and upbeat and made me want to get up and move. The videos were edgy and grabbed your attention. I did enjoy this new musician. Her videos led me to another new artist - Beyonce. Which led me to even more new artists. I now know and enjoy the music of a lot of new musicians to add to my old 80's favorites and I am no longer stuck in the "80's".
So, for freeing me from my musical "rut" - I can only say - "Thank you, Lady Gaga".

I have mixed emotions about Lady Gaga. I used to love her music during the first album period. I loved her look because her fashion and her character stood out, but ever since the second album came out, I dunno... I feel as if she's trying too hard now to be "different". You can only push the envelope so far, and now a good deal of people are just tired with the new antics Gaga is trying to do nowadays. I'm sorry, but I never liked "Born This Way". The lyrics have a good message, but the opening lines were just plain weird and had nothing to do with the rest of the song. It's just my two cents, but I wish Gaga just stuck to her old ways.

I agree that she is trying too hard now; but, she is a tough act to follow (even for herself). Her fashion and character make it hard for her to top herself and that is what her fans expect of her - something new and better EVERY time.
Born This Way - I agree the opening lines detract from the rest of the song.
I personally have all 3 of her albums and I enjoy parts of all of them - there are obvious reasons why she never made videos of some of her songs on the album (they were filler and not her best).
But, I still have to thank her for introducing me to current music. Without her, I would still be listening to 80's music and missing what is going on with today's music. She got me out of my rut.

I agree I love her. I like her attitude and how she is so against bullying. She stands up for things she believes in and invests time, money and energy into all of her causes.
I like that she is so weird. She acts weird dresses weird and sometimes makes no sense, I love that about her lol. Her music is bad a** and so is she. I just really enjoy the fact that she just is who she is. She doesn't try to be the norm, and shes not ashamed of who or how she is. Best of all she seems very accepting of all walks of people from the very strange to the very normal. I love "Born This Way" even the beginning, I think it reflects the relationship she had with her mother when she was younger and it leads into how her mother helped her believe in her self and understand that she is who she is because she was born that way, and for a reason.
Keep enjoying her fellow monster lol :)
