We have know that there are various cast in each religion. The government has made special reservation or quota for particular cast like scheduled tribe, scheduled cast etc. Do you think it is better for our education center. It results to more students who score more marks than these reserved students lost their seat in college. What do you think about it.

I watched this movie called 'Aarakshan' and was stimulated to think about this issue and today I have come across your discussion. My opinion is this:
There should be some reservation for backward and minority communities but not the kind of percentage that would affect meritorious students from getting a seat in a college even after securing high marks. It is true that many people get their education through a lot of struggle and hardships. So something should be definitely done for them but in certain areas some are getting an undue advantage too.I think this is not right. They can keep a quota for these students and allow other general category candidates with good marks to also get a chance in deemed universities and colleges. It is true that merit matters as has been pointed out in the movie. There should be some competition at least and the deserving candidates should get the chance to study in prestigious colleges but even those who are under-privileged and have tried hard to study well despite many hardships including poverty, should be given a chance.
I think this is an open-ended debate and this will always continue as people from different backgrounds will have different opinions.
