While P-Noy works, Binay starts campaign early

I started a discussion a few months ago about an unsolicited SMS or rather SPAM SMS from an unknown cellphone number. It's a line belonging to Globe telecom as it started with 0916.... The message contains Binay achievements. Now it seems that even Ramon Tulfo, a hard hitting columnist at the Philippines Daily inquirer was not spared on these text blasts. Apparently the message didn't sit well for Mr Tulfo as well. below is the content of his column that leads me to believe that since Binay's plan has been made public then we'll be expecting no such kind of messages for the meantime.
"While the President is working so hard, or not so hard—whichever side you are on—his vice president, Jojo Binay is campaigning very early.
Binay’s rah-rah boys have been sending a barrage of text messages to cell phone owners.
Here are just two examples of the many:
“Binay earmarks PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) for senior citizens.
“Vice President Jejomar Binay has earmarked his pork barrel allocation for 2011 to build or rehabilitate 300 centers for senior citizens nationwide.”
You thougths on this folks.

I am sorry but I do not like him at all. It is, I suppose, simply a case of ...like what the judges in a talent show or a pageant say, what we are looking for is the whole package... And Binay, I do not know what the name means, well I don't go for bleached skin, although in his case he really needed it, and I don't like his complaint about the wangwang that implied power play...
007, see the difficult statement? I will stop here before I go below the belt ans get myself incriminated.

Maybe we should tell her until Kris and Junjun gets married. The union would link Binay with the Aquinos. If that happens, Mar can kiss the presidency goodbye since Kris would now be endorsing her Father in law and not her brother's ex girlfriend's hubby. Besides, just imagine what the off prings of Binay would be in the future if mixed with Aquino blood. That means no need to bleach those skin anymore.

That has always been the political situation here in this country. Politicians flashing their achievements or projects as if these are extraordinary gifts to their constituents when actually these are just their obligation and responsibilities as elected officials. What is more sad is that many people are buying or even allowing themselves to be fooled by this political circus. Politics is politics. Its the art of persuading people you're doing good for them, when actually you're screwing them up. Assuming that those text message highlighting the VP's achievements are true, so what? Nothing is special or extraordinary with that. Of course, he must work and do something instead of just sitting and scratching his balls. Those achievements are not a favor to people.

Very true harmonics, but in a country where politicians have to make their presence felt if they want the votes then they have to do something to reach as many people as they can and inform them of their achievements or the lack of it even if in the process it leaves an bad taste in the mouth. We also have to take into consideration that a lot of people don't go the extra mile to know what their officials are doing and merely depend on the spoonfuls fed by media as basis and make a perception of it. In short, it takes two to tango. The politicians are what they are now because that's what they people made them to be.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones who didn'tget those text messages for the early campaign.
I voted for him and from this issue - will still give him the benefit of the doubt because it might be those people who work against him that has send those text messages so that he will received some bad reaction.
Just my two cents. Peace.

I was more dismayed from the way the messages were sent that the content of the message itself. Yes, achievements are still achievements but with the way it sent my head translate it as "early campaign".
What you're saying is a possibility though but with the way how Filipinos react to messages, if someone want's to discredit Binay then the message would certainly contain something negative which doesn't have any. But then, we will never know for sure.

i am not really into politics but i have to say something about it and the politicians once in awhile. with the text blast, maybe they know i will not buy this tactic or i am just another network's subscriber. i agree with LK that it's not important right now, but what he will do for the rest of his term.

We have to get used to these kind of politcal gimmicks if you are a resident of the Philippines, it could range from Mud slinging to "gulang" ( getting an unfair advantage) from whatever means, and grandstanding, I think we here at Mylot are politically mature enough to decide when the time comes who to vote for, so go ahead, they can do what they like but it will just be an indication of who I would vote for next time and might just prove counter productive for them

Good thing I'm Smart. I haven't received those kind of messages, and if ever I do I'd be sure to delete them instantly without reading the entire message. It's just trash. People are observing what PNoy's been doing, received lots of criticism, he should be out there to help him. Why does he call himself Vice-President? Instead, he's starting this text campaign. I know he's done lots for Makati, but he hasn't proved anything yet as Vice-President.

That's exactly my first reaction when I received the SMS. Instead of feeling grateful about his achievements, the way it was conveyed is more of an early campaign and I'm a little bit dismayed. What the message content may be true but that is something that he not should be telling everyone through unsolicited text messages because that is expected of him. I mean, people voted him to office to do something. You don't brag about something that people are expecting from you, it should be the other way around. It's just like, you applied for a job and you did the job well, so the bosses are happy and when they're happy they'll praise you for a job a well done and they brag about it and who knows you'll might even get promoted to be president.

I am not gonna vote for him, and I don't care about his past achievements in the past. besides, What i want to see is the achievements that he will be doing for the next three to four years. I am not sure as to how and why we should consider listening to these text messages. what i really care right now is how they do their job. oh my, Did i just forget that i won't be voting for every one this coming 2016 or 2013? nothing change most specially now that automation isn't going to be part of the election.

I dont know what's going on with Vice President Binay now and what makes him busy. I also dont know what are his achievements since he sat in the position. But if the early campaign is true, I dont think people with get easily ride on with those because we are genius enough to believe the foolishness of the election candidates. I havent received such message yet.

A lot of people are not aware of what the VP is doing and what his achievement are, if any at all. But I don't think it's his own fault since a VP will only be recognized if the president will give him something to do, in most cases that will only happen if the president has already more than a handful he can handle. Maybe they should have sent you one of those messages too since it contain what Binay has achieved or been doing as of late.

Whatever is the truth, the fact is this should be the time we are building a nation, not preparing for the next election. We have too many politicking already, of leaders only concerned with their selfish motives and fattening their pockets and stealing people's money on broad daylight. Why cant we have leaders who are competing against each other on who can deliver the best benefits for their country and their people? When can we see more leaders who are concerned with the future of the country, the same kind that are plentiful when we are still fighting for our independence?
We are burned so many times it is just plain pathetic to guess if these politicians are trying hard to be elected so they can be another Jose Rizal or just another Jose Pidal.

Very true observations there greenpeas. Pnoy may not be perfect but the way he holds office, even with the issue on KKK, is very far from how GMA governed this country. Binay has his own achievements too and the SMS sent may serve as a good reminder to his followers that his doing something and to his detractors, and early campaign, bottom line is it reminds us that he is after all a politician who don't have plans or retiring just yet.
