What is the consequence if you don't add a suggested interest after you respond

When we respond to discussions, sometimes afterward we will be asked if we want to add the interest the discussion was started in to our interests. What effect does it have if we say, "no thanks." Example. I have "Get Married" in "Things I Have Done." The discussion was started in "Get Married" in "Things I Want to Do." Since I already have it in "Things I Have Done," I said "No thanks." If I'm already married, why would I want to put this in "Things I Want to Do," especially when I want to start a new discussion in Things I Have Done"? They won't be inside their separate interest categories when I have to choose one to start a discussion. I personally think this is confusing, since it would be easier to just fill in a blank with the topic for a discussion instead of looking through all those icons. If they would even keep them in their interest categories it would be easier to find them. I don't understand why they want us to waste the time we could be discussing looking at all those icons. Anyway, if I don't accept the suggestion to add the interest the discussion was started in, does this affect something I should know about?

I have my set interests and I Never add the suggested interests. when I have a discussion and it just doesn't fit, I put it under Questions and answers. Or if it is a specific topic , like a t.v. show. i write it under Watching t.v. and I write the show's name as a tag. that way it will get noticed. I hope this helps.

It does not affect anything that I am aware of. It just keeps you from being notified in your daily digest of discussions in that topic. No worries, just keep posting and add interests as you like.

Not accepting the invitation to add a particular interest has absolutely no consequences. There are so many discussions opened under what I would consider sub divisions of a subject i.e. I have seen discussions under the interest of a dog's name and I do not want to add that user's pet to my interests. It is sufficient that there is a category titled "dogs".

That's an even better example than mine on why it makes sense to say no thanks.

If you don't add the interest, you'll just be asked to add it the next you happen to answer something under that particular listing. It is annoying. myLot really should do something about sorting our all the interests, but I don't suppose they will.

i dont think it affects anything at all. at a later topic the same interest might come up so you can add it at a later time. or you can also add it via your profile ;)

By selecting "no thanks" does not affect your account!

No, it does not make any difference. I depends on you if you want to add a tag. You say "No Thanks" b'coz either you don't like it or you are not interested now & will add it later. Why do you get woried for silly reasons!!!!
