Have you seen this movie? Its such a great piece of japanese cinema. A good movie with both action and strong storyline. There is a character one out of seven samurais, which is not actually samurai but a farmer. His family is killed by bandits and he turns into samurai. He makes us laugh throughout all movie but we can feel the pain in his heart. I like such characters who makes you laugh but has pain in his/her own heart.

your view dont matter if wikipedia says it.. im sure they copied seven samurai... but with just two guys..and changed the story to suits indian communities back then in 1977, and change some parts of the story to make it more exciting..but the ideas was still from seven samurai.. if the seven samurai movie wasnt around..probably N.sippy will not come about to produced SHOLAY.. Seven samurai definitely inspired him.. ; )

I am saying so because I read Sholay's wikipedia after a long time watching both movies. Even I watched both movies within two consequent day. But I haven't thought even once that these two movies are based on same plot. I may be totally wrong, but its just my view.

I read Sholay's wikipedia. Yes, Its right that wikipedia says Sholay is inspired by Sven Samurai. But in my view, its not true. Sholay is completely different from Seven Samurai. Just the outline that hiring someone to fight with bandits is same in both movies. But whole story is completely different.
