ebay postage rant!

Ok, I don’t do this.. well not often anyway.. but MAJOR RANT ALERT!
Ebay. I mean really.. Ebay. Are you kidding me?
Do you know what, it’s not even Ebay. It’s the moronic idiots that are allowed to operate an Ebay business! Surely there should be some sort of IQ test to be passed before handing out a business account!!
So I bought something on Ebay. For my partner. Off an Ebay business. A brand new product. From an Ebay shop.. nothing second hand, no relying on some seller to post it, it’s an Ebay business. And I bought it on Monday. And there were 3 options for postage. Free postage which would take 5-10 working days. Second class posting that would take between 2-4 working days.. or for an extra £1.. I could have next day post.
Well her birthday isn’t until the 14th of September, so I could have accepted the free post, but, and this may be stereotyping, but, I often find that orders placed, on a free postage basis, get put behind paying postage orders, even if they were ordered a day before. And they are more often that none, forgotten about, or far later delivered than described, and I didn’t want to run that risk considering it’s for her birthday, so I was opting for the 2nd class post. But then I noticed that the next day delivery was only £1 more expensive.. so I thought, yeah, that’ll do, I’ll get it tomorrow [Tuesday] and that’ll be great.
But it didn’t arrive on Tuesday.
So then I thought to myself, aww well, it was obviously processed too late for dispatch on Monday, for delivery on Tuesday, and it’ll be dispatched on Tuesday, or delivery on Wednesday. Even though I ordered it at 11.45am and it said all orders before 2pm will be dispatched same day, but that’s clearly irrelevant! .. so today is Wednesday, our postman has been, and gone.. and no parcel!
Now seriously!! What is THAT about? What was the point of me even paying that extra if it is going to go on the 2nd class delivery anyway? I know it’s only £1 but it’s the principle!!
Am I over re-acting?

Hm. Why wont you try Amazon next time. They have excellent delivery system. I ordered books from them many times and they never disappointed me. My partner got birthday 3rd of September. I ordered something from them. I hope this time they will not disappoint me either. If you like they can wrap your gift and you have option to add your birthday wishes. They have huge range of gifts. And No. I don't work for them

I agree with koperty3. Since I have discovered Amazon.com I rarely use ebay anymore. I had one problem with amazon once. They sent my package to someone else who signed my name for it and KEPT the package. When I informed Amazon about this, they overnighted me another one of my item and they paid the postage!!

Okay, what I have to say might not be correct, because I don't know what time or day it is right now in the UK, or how the postal works..Here in America, we have the regular mail carrier, who delivers our every day mail and small packages..But if the package is large, we have a different delivery service called the "United Postal Service" or UPS for short. So, if you have a different service that delivers odd and large packages, maybe it hasn't shown up yet..
If I am wrong and none of what I said applies, then you should contact your post office and see what they say..Also contact the seller and explain the situation. My experience is sellers don't want a bad report and will do what they can to help..

Wow that stinks chicks.... If you don't get it real soon, I suggest you tell that seller you want the extra you spent for next day delivery refunded or you'll rate him/her negative..

The package is very very small, in fact it could have been delivered in a tiny, normal sized envelope! .. so there was no parcel service needed, just regular mail. and i should have recieved it on wednesday at the latest.
however, because it was a bank holiday [which means the post doesnt get delivered, it does still get collected though so it shouldn't have mattered] i am giving them until today.. so i'm currently waiting on the post.
if i had paid for 2nd class post, i wouldn't have minded, but what is the point in paying that extra £1 .. for the same service as the £1 less was? lol!

No, you are not overreacting. You should be upset. I would report this person to ebay. I sell stuff on ebay and when I pay the postage, I treat those packages the same way I would any other package. All bidders are supposed to be in the USA to bid on my stuff and 2 of the winners were outside of the USA. I only offer free postage within the USA. That's not right. We live in a world of incompetent people everywhere.

well it eventually arrived today, when it was due on tuesday or wednesday at the latest. not amused but what can i do really. i'm not going to cause a bad argument over £1 .. but i will be leaving him less than acceptable feedback that's for damn sure!!

No, you aren't overreacting. . .you should get what you pay for. Did you contact the seller yet to 1) find out where your package is, and 2) get a partial refund for shipping? You should do both of those things immediately if you haven't done them already. There are always explanations for everything, and if the seller has a reasonable one (like being without power due to Hurricane Irene) that's one thing, but otherwise, you should be given the tracking number on the package, the date it was mailed and the date you should expect to receive it, a partial refund since you didn't get expedited shipping, and an apology. Good luck!

contacted the seller. got an autmatched business response promising an answer to my query within 2-4 business days.. by which i maybe will have recieved it anyway!
can't ask for a partial refund until after the seller has contacted me back, obviously incase there are circumstances which excuse what has happened

Good luck with all of it--and don't buy from this business again! You can always leave less-than-stellar feedback, for what that's worth.

Must be due to the bank holiday? Or probably the seller sent it after the cut-off time thus it won't be arriving as you expected.
Can you contact the seller instead and ask when the parcel was dispatched?
I think i' m back but not in full swing yet. Just responding but won't be staying long here.
Miss you.

I would contact the seller and ask why you paid for the next day shipping and did not receive it. On the feedback for the seller comment on this as well, so others are warned. I think you can even contact eBay customer service and let them know. Might be more trouble then it is worth. My problem with eBay are shipping costs being ridiculously high.

I know this is a little late since you posted this in September (so hope you got it in the end!) but, I don't think you are over reacting! Myself and my hubby have a catlogue we order from occasionally and sometimes we get the next day delivery and when it doesn't turn up, I really complain cos at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how much you paid for it........you paid it for a reason and if it doesn't arrive when it should then you haven't got what you paid for! Grrrr! I could understand if some postage delay was on liek when we had the strike....but, if no strike and normal postal service then yes I would be annoyed!

no babygirl you are not over-reacting lol! Im sooo sorry that happened to u. You know what I'd say I would say those PUTA'S but thats just lil ole me =) My experience was something of that nature....That happened to me but it was from a different company- Target. I ordered something online from target something for my brand new neice and nephew..I had it shipped to their address but they shipped it here to my address. And since the whole order was more than $100 I got FREE shipping-ha! yeah right! FREE SHIPPING MY A**! I was mad so I went to our nearest target and complained. And got 40% knocked off my order! I guess I appealed to their better nature...but u know what u should do?! order me to kick their as**es! im just kidding but for real im sure there is some way u could complain about their services, i dont know about u but over here in the States if there is an angry customer the store or whatever will do anything to make u happy even if it means giving u some of ur money back or something else but try that ok?! happy mylotting!!
did ur partner like what u got for her?! I know she will because if it came from u heck yeah shell like it! =D
