May I ask when your friend applied? I applied January 2010 and I still don't have mine. I am hoping I'm one of those whose card gets processed first with the new system.

Processing really takes years they must do something about it. I applied April 2009 and still waiting. They said the new card will be release this month. Still waiting for the best.

Hi JackieJensen08. I do not think the SSS ID is required by employers, they only need your SSS number. Back when I applied for an SSS number, they quickly gave me my number after I handed in my application form. The SSS ID card really is taking ages before a member receives it because of upgrades that are currently being done on the SSS ID system according to news in SSS website. The SSS card production stopped in April 2010 after the ID machine, which is more than 10-years old, broke down.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emilio de Quiros, Jr. said the institution would start issuing the new Unified Multipurpose Identification System or "UMID" cards free to members soon. Members who have been waiting for their cards prior to April 2010 will be the first to receive their UMID SSS cards.
They said that they hope to eliminate their backlog of 600,000 cards in 2 months, maybe September or October of this year. Keep your fingers crossed! Good day!

The E1 form signed by SSS personnel should suffice for the verification of your number. I do not see why it would be necessary that they see your SSS ID card still when they won't be needing it in order to pay your SSS contributions.

This is really a problem with this department for many years now.
I also received my ID after a year- and they have it posted thru mail after a year after many times of follow-up.
Regarding job/work...as long as you have the SSS number, ID is not compulsory since companies knows that we are having issues with the SSS company.
So, you can always submit your SSS number- anyway, companies are not looking/asking for the ID itself, but only the number.
have a good day

Seeing this topic makes me remind to contact them and yet it is already September now. Because the last time I called them the agent just told me that in August this ID will be done but then it seems that it is hard to call them now.
Actually if you need that in company you could actually show the receipt of SSS.

Most people are really upset with this kind of system. You call them but none of them answer. How cruel is that? Seems like dont want to disturb.

Good luck on waiting for that snail mail to come. Yes, I do hear from my friends that their identification cards from SSS still hasn't arrived when they did apply since ages ago. I just applied for my id card recently this month and they just told me to wait for it to be mailed. Well I hope I'll get that mail too right away. Slow processing can really be expected with them. Where do you need that id card for? You can always present your SSS number. I know they just get the SSS number when you are applying for a job, right?

I need an SSS id card to prove as a identification for applying a job Since I lost my E1 form copy. Most companies like to have xerox with it. Government officials are really slow . It makes me sick.

I think the government is now trying to build a unified identification card for SSS/GSIS together with Pagibig and Philhealth. I think it is called the UMID plan or the Unified Multipurpose ID. I think this also caused the delay of the identification cards of a lot of people as the government is trying to build the UMID for the new ID applications. They already got a huge number of backlog applications. I hope they finish it all up the soonest time possible.

Hi JackieJensen08,
We have the same problem. I've applied for an sss i.d. more than a year ago and I still have yet to receive it. Government officials in our country are really slow. That should why our country is not improving economically. Still, employers only need your sss number even without your i.d. upon entertaining your application.

Absloutely slow. It only shows that our country is not really improving in all aspects. They must take an action regarding this matter.

I guess I'm not understanding what you're waiting on. Are you just now applying for a Social Security number? Were you not born in the US? I know it's frustrating. I'm on disability after having surgery on my back in 2006 and they take their own sweet time doing anything.

I am wondering, where did you apply for your social security ID? I applied while I was still bumming around, when I had my first official job, I only handed them over my SSS number, and the office processed it for me.
Are you referring to an ID or the number itself?

i looked to see what this sss card is about and i see someone answered your question already. im not in phillipines, but here you need a social security card which is referred to as ss card. so i guess this is similar. one person has said you just need the number but im not so sure. because here because of ALL the illegal immegrants you need the actual card now a days. when in the past you just needed the number. which shows more of what the illegals have caused us in problems

Yeah there is nothing wrong since I do have my SSS card number. But the employer wants to see my SSS id as well. I already explain it to them that I haven't received yet and gave me 3 months to comply.

don't expect too much from that id. I mean two years and still no id, that is really a show of incompetence on those responsible for that item. The SSS is always bragging about many benefits that they are able to deliver but I really doubt it. For me, that office is just a legal way of "milking" the people of their hard earned money. Anyway, you can use another identification card or documents such as NBI clearance if you really need an ID. Maybe your SSS id would be sent to you after a decade considering their snail pace work.

I almost forgot I filled an SSS ID last May. It's so frustrating that I still don't have my ID. I actually decided to ask for a new one since I need some identification but knowing that it will took you forever before you receive it, I feel bad and already losing hope.

They say it would take at least a year for the ID to be ready. My first SSS ID, some 10 years ago was done in just a month. But, when I applied for replacement due to change of status, up until now (7 months), still got no news of where it could be.
