Hello to all myloters: I have received an e-mail from a yahoo account, but I have serious doubts about its real procedence. I have gone to the source code of the message, but the ip address send me to the location of yahoo, in sunvalley CA, and I wonder if there is some way to find out if the e-mail is actually sent from the location I have been told it was. I would really appreciate any help on this issue.

Almost every message that was sent out from Yahoo has an originating IP coming from Yahoo. This is also the same with Gmail, Hotmail is the only one showing the original IP address of the sender. If a message is asking you for any personal information, I would suggest to just ignore it.

I don't think there is any way to trace out only from source code. you can if mail was sent from your server.. but from yahoo server you don't get any other information so I don't think you can trace it out..

Nowadays every e-mail other than from known contacts or known sources has become doubtful. We are compelled to be over cautious and ignore such mails to be on safe side.

If in doubt, ignore it. If it is important, which it probably isn't from Yahoo, they will send it again.

You can track the location of the IP by checking the whois at sites like whatsmyip.om. You will get to know that you really got a mail from that location. have a nice day!

I'm not too sure about this but you can try these steps: 1. Contact Yahoo and tell them about your problem 2. If possible, try to track their IP address and compare it with Yahoo IP.
