can you bathe with only a regular-sized bucket of water?

I thought I would never experience living in a place without water. This happened to me years ago when I vacationed in a cousin's house in one of the places in Manila. My cousin's family did not have water in their house and we had to fetch water from a distant place. Because I found it too tiresome to be fetching so many buckets in order to bathe, I learned to make-do with only one pail of water. I did this for a week. This was what I did. I saw to it that the first scoop of water should wet my entire body from head to foot. Then follows the soaping and shampooing. The rest of the water was for rinsing. It was not really enough, but better than never. Did you have a similar experience? Tell us about it.

Aw, this is too bad for you.
Where /what place in Manila you are referring with?
I never had any problem with water in my area and I lived here in Manila for 19 years already.
Thu, there were water cut off before, but we have enough water storage to use and last for 3 days. (3 days - the longest water shortage that happens to so far in my entire 19 yrs of living here in metro)
Well, that's a good experience thu (just kidding)
have a good day

I was not feeling very well one and did not want to bathe in chilly water so I had some water heated up to add to a pail of bath water. I thought I had the water heated up well to warm up a full pail of water but then it was not, so I ended up having to do with just half a pail of warm bath water!
The pail was a bit big, though, probably 1 1/2 the size of a regular pail. I surprised even myself when I was able to bathe and shampoo my hair with the limited supply of water! And oh, I even had some water left in the pail after my bath.

Hi cutie!
I've experienced that, too when I was working as a community organizer way back a few years ago. And to top it all, the water was rainwater. It was a poor village, they did not have NAWASA or something. They collect water when it rains. I think they have a well, too but it wasn't too deep and during summer, it runs out of water.
So when we went there for our work, we had to sleep there in one of the houses. I had to take a bath because we just came from a long walk, I was muddy and all. Oh, I should also mention that they did not have a bathroom. I bathed just outside the house. And I couldn't take a bath properly because my co-workers were just around and so as the village people. My co-workers were even teasing me, intentionally watching me as I pour water on my head.
That was really some experience.

I am curious where in Manila are you referring to. When I was in college, I lived in my grandmother's house in Manila, for 2 years, and that was in Sta. Mesa. Though the water supply there has specific time, I had never experienced bathing with only a pail of water. I think that's enough and I won't feel satisfied. Here in Cavite, we don't have problems in water, the only time that we do is when our water pump broke down. It's electric so if it's not functioning, we have to fetch water on those manual water pumps provided by the baranggay, and we have at least 3 for the subdivision. I think a pail of water is not bad at all when we're talking about conservation of water. Good thing, you have contributed something to that effect. But I think, it would not hurt if we use 2. 2 pails of water would be fine for me...

It is very difficult to bathe using only small amount of water. I experienced that when I was in Olongapo for a vacation. There's a shortage in water so I have to use only small amount of water for bathing.

I did bathe with less than a bucket. That happened when I was in the Army and they forgot to bring us water while we were out for 4 days. What can you do? Just get the importand spots. :)

I think rainwater is one of the solution for places where there are no places. I know places there are no water and most people pay huge amount of money to buy water. I think you should try to harvest rainwater. I have visited to my cousin's place and found that they have very less rain and water is very costly and most people use less water and try to save water.

Hi, Cutie18f. I can try to bathe in a regular sized bucket of water. I have washed by a pail many of times during my life, so this is not something that is entirely new to me. It is just very uncomfortable though. I have bathed my children by a pail when they were infants, so this is very easy for me to do. I hope that you don't have to experience this again. You made something difficult seem so very easy. I just wished that your vacation did not lack your ability to have water to use. I am proud of you, you did not let the outcome defeat you, you instead, defeated the outcome yourself!
