would you say a child is cute even if its not true? hehe

Every child is innocent and cute. Unless you don't like the child's parents,or you will be instinctively full of compliments to a child. why not? Even if a word of compliment is a biggest encouragement to a child.

My sister and I always joke about this stuff. My friends and her friends as well were all like that, always cooing around a baby when they see one and speaking in a mushy tone of how cute he/she is. I'm not good with kids, and I'm not really into stuffs like complimenting half-heartedly. So when I see a baby that I don't find cute, I wouldn't go as far as to like to their parents telling them that they have a cute baby. I'll just casually talk about other matters about the subject, and would forego the compliments. I wouldn't be so rude as to tell them their baby is not cute...I just keep that to myself. And I always wonder how those people see all babies to be cute...

There is a saying in Tamil language that even the donkey's child will be beautiful when it is small and for a crow, it's child will be like a golden child. Hence for parents, a child is special always. Apart from this, do'nt you notice that each and every child has some speciality in itself like beautiful eyes, shining in eyes, small lovely mouth, good hair like curly or so etc. etc.? I really find that each and every child is cute in it's own way.

I have come across a couple of very ugly babies in my life. I both cases I have lied shamelessly, but trying not to. I have brought the attention to the one thing they had beautiful or the fact that they looked so rosy and all that. I did not say they were ugly though. Fortunatly, both were boys. It would have been worse it they had been girls, don´t you think?

Thanks for this discussion.For the parents every kid is cute, be they be ugly even disfigured, so if we say the child is not cute, the parent will feel sad, i always say, 'hey the child is cute'; same is true for women too, they want to hear, she is cute lol.

I think i will say that the baby is cute too. I think it's more like a norm where everybody tend to say that a baby is cute even when they are not. Furthermore, it would make the mom happier too. Although on a side note, it's not very good to tell a lie, to say that i baby is cute even when it is not. However, no harm done here because we could have it a happy day for the mother!

Hi chiyosan! I think all babies are cute! Because they are so tiny and they look so innocent. Of course, they are innocent. I don't remember seeing a baby that is not cute. But if I do, I'll just find something in the baby that I can compliment to so that the mother will be glad. I don't have to lie.

to be honest, im not the type of person that will proactively say a child is cute, even if i do think it, unless the convo gets awkward and i feel like im pulling stuff to say out of my butt. But I do tend to think all kids are cute, even if they were ugly theyre usually so ugly their cute haha, and most of them grow into their looks, alot of babies look like aliens when theyre brand spanking new anyways.

I know how you feel. I wouldn't really say so either. I would just say hello to the baby or the kid and not comment about being 'cute' and all. Perhaps if everyone else would be saying so, perhaps I could just comment how cute or small his/her fingers and toes are. But not to the point of lying if I don't find the baby cute. I was actually in this dilemma a few months back when one of my good friends bore a baby boy. I didn't really find him cute at all (I'm just being honest here) but a lot of the friends I was with that time was telling them that the baby is cute. Now that he's a little bit older, I still don't find him cute at all. hehehe.. I know it seems harsh, but perhaps that's just it, there will be those blessed with cuteness and those without those attributes. But I'd be fooling myself and the parents if I would comment otherwise. I guess if you don't have something nice or honest to say, it's better to keep quiet about it. my thoughts are that saying its cute even if you thought it the most ugly thing you had ever seen I would still say thats a cute little baby and feel it did not cost me anything to be kind and not hurt the parents feelings. and ,also whats ugly to one person might be pretty to another person.

Yes of course I say every child is cute even if there have some weird looks to them. I think it is mean to say a child or baby is ugly. Its rude and it makes the parents feel even more proud. So If you have nothing nice to say do not say nothing at all or butter it up.

Rather than say something inappropriate, I would rather not say anything at all! Honestly, I tend to say what I truly feel and more often than not, this puts me in trouble. So for the sake of that, I'd rather opt to keep my mouth shut.

If the parents of the baby are my friends, I would say that their baby is cute even if the kid is not that cute. I think is kind rude to say that their babe is not cute. If it's someone of my family, I would not say that, I would say the true.
