A lady was single and she wanted to have a baby. She used a donor to get pregnant and had a baby boy. She felt grateful that the man had given her the chance to become a mom. She thought about helping someone else and read in a magazine about a medical man that wanted egg donors. So in 1991 she became one and gave some of her eggs. It was all confidential and she she didn't know who she helped. The medical man one day gave her flowers and a card saying thanks from a parent that she had helped. She read the newspaper and saw a story about twins being born. Years later she read the story again and when she saw the dates she knew those were her children. Amazingly she found the twins on Face Book when they reached 18 years old. With the help of an agency she got in contact with the family. It was so amazing for her to meet her children. Her son wasn't able to find his donor dad.
What do you think of a lady becoming an egg donor?
Do you think it is right for a man to be a donor so a lady can get pregnant?

maximax8,
To be honest, I do not have any issue or anything against donating either the sperm or eggs for IVF or surrogacy.
However, I just hope that the laws governing these donations and medical process could be clear cut to avoid any unpleasant aftermath or abuse of the system itself. I am quite concern with the fine line of confidentiality where it hides the biological parentage of these newborns where if they are treated carefully could result in incestuous relationships.
The other issue would be one where the system is being abused for commercial reasons which could end up like illegal cosmetic surgery being done by non qualified medical practitioners. We are talking about lives at stake here.

I agree. Once she donated them I am sure she must have signed over all rights. I worry about children who may not have known the truth and how it would affect them.

Hi maxi,
I don't support to get child by medical technique. A child is the product of love between a man and a woman. You may say that my outlook is outdated. When a father or mother is unknown how can a partner of a couple can claim that the child is his or her. We can't deny our emotion.

IF everyone has enough $ to raise a child well and is good to the children, then fine. I see so many people doing horrible things to their children in the newspaper, esp. shaking baby syndrome, that it makes me ill. There are often two parent families in which one parent gets very angry.

It is not something I would do but, I say each to their own and I am glad she had a happy moment getting to meet her children

hi maxim,
how amazing what modern science can do today.
i guess those donations would be very welcome especially for couples who cannot have babies except through this process.
i am not sure though if it is good to meet the children. Well, unless they know the situation.

I think that it's amazing that she found them. But I don't think she needed to do that. I think it's a bit unfair to the family of the twins, specially if they didn't go looking for her. I don't think that is really helping if she would set out to look for them after a few years, even if they are already legally adult. It could have negative effects to the children.
