Hi,all my friends!Have you encountered such a thing?
At about 8:30 of the night in August 25th while I was typing comments to my responses from the myLotters, one of my online friends from America(She's an overseas Chinese from Guangzhou in China) began chatting to me through Tencent QQ.
She said she's in Qinghai province doing aweto business, and she needed some money right now.The woman said that she trusted me so she asked me for help. Then the woman gave me her name and cellphone number and phoned me.She said she wanted me to lend her 60000 yuan(rmb)the next day and she would returned it in a month including the interest!
My!I have never confronted things of this kind before!I know this sum of money could bring me a three-floor building here in my town 10 years ago,and till now I haven't saved this sum.I'm such a frank man that I just told her that I couldn't give her the money!I heard she's very disappointed but thankful, but I had no choice.
Was she a crook?Did she really need that sum of money?

I don't know if she really needed the money or not. If you didn't know her very well why would she be calling you? I am glad that you told her you just could not do it. You probably wouldn't see the money again. She really had some nerve calling you and asking you for money.

"It takes all sorts",the woman that you know nothing about asked you for money and went to the length of attempting to borrow 60000 yuan from you. She appeared to borrow money from her relation.Needless to say ,she is surely a crook.Such a thing hasn't happened to me,perhaps I have never talked with anyone on line.

But even she's really in trouble of lack of money, she should have known that she couldn't get any money that way nowadays.Yet she really did like that.
We met online yesterday, and she never typed over here to me so I just told her to call me.Then she did so and we talked nearly 4 minutes.I could hear it's the same voice as last time but she didn't want to talk too much because her daughter was by her side.
As for my financial situation I cannot give anybody money anytime! And I'm not sure if the woman has begun doing net scamming or not since she lost her job.I hope not.

She said she had nobody to cry on since her family moved to the USA about 3 years ago,and she lost her job half a year ago,so she had to come back to Chinese mainland doing worm-grass trading in Qinghai province. But even though she's not a net scammer, and as an American poor person, she's much wealthier than me,hehe.

Fortunately none from my MyLot friends have asked monetary assistance from me. The way I look at it I rally have doubts, the first thing that came into my mind was this probably some sort of a scam, it is really difficult to trust someone with that big sum of money. It's nice to be of help, but we should be careful to whom we should extend our help.

Both in the real life and on the internet world,we have to have such people as scammers since our money is so hard-earned,we couldn't afford the loss if it's turned out to be a scam.

Well of course she needed that sum of money. All people including crooks, need money. That's obvious.
Would she have returned the money? Likely not.
Think about it this way... If a person is worthy to lend money to, a bank would do it. Banks hire people to determine who is, and who is not worth lending money to. Who is not likely to pay back, they refuse to lend money to... right?
So if she can't get a loan from a bank, because the banks think she won't pay back... you think she will with you, when you can't legally do anything to her?
See whether she was a criminal, trying to scam you, is really not important. In either case, whether she was honestly trying to borrow some money, or not, it's still a very bad idea.
Don't lend money to people, ever. It's just a bad plan, and that's a life rule I live by.

I need that sum of money, too, but so far my saving hasn't reached to it yet, hehe.
I believe that if I had given her that money, the results would be like what a saying says "Tiger borrows pig!"
She knew well that I was not a bank and she would never want to pay back, hehe.
Yes,borrowing money from others is never a good idea for both the lender and the borrower.Just earn by yourself!

you were smart not to fall prey to this woman! She does not know you,and you do no know her!She has a lot of nerve! And she is asking for a lot of money!!! too many people are trying to get rich by scamming others!May be there could be some honest people out there, but they are in such a minority, that we need a magnifying glass to find them!I would not think to ask friends for money(that is the fastest way to loose a friend) never mind a stranger!!!!!!

Maybe she has found that I'm too honest to be careful of her nerve judging by what we chatted in the past,so she just tried to scam me!
Wow,you have a good habit!I like earning money by my hands and never like borrowing from others,I can hardly go to sleep thinking of the borrowed money!Good luck!

First you need to be clever. On her part nothing to lose but gain and for you if you feel so sad about her story and lend her the amount, if you have that amount then the sadness will be transferred to you. Just to think of it, even if her story is really true, her approach has more than enough courage to ask for a help from somebody who is totally stranger to her. Of course the first thing that will come out of your mind is that she is making fool of others. Before you approach others, you have options to find ways like lend money from lending firms, from friends, from neighbors and from relatives to sum up or raise the amount needed and not just from one person only. That will be my feeling if somebody who became only my friend through on-line. It takes a lot of time to know a person well and in distance it is hard to give your trust in such a short time and even longer. And even to ask her to meet you personally is even frightening. I hope I am not too negative in giving my point.

I can see you are very smart facing such things.
Yes,if a scammer wants to get money from a stranger or even a offline friend, she's ready to tell you an acceptable story.I have seen that one of my colleagues was arrested by the police, who had been scamming her friends or the acquaintances in the same town. And now I met such a people on the internet!
Facing a scammer of this kind,I could do nothing but refusing.

Hi mate...the problem with online friends is that you never know if they are genuine and true or if they are grooming you to hit on you for something, be it cash or a favour.
I'm pretty sure that there have been members here trying to scam people on their friend's list through private messages and there is one person who from time to time whines and moans about how desperate her family is for money to pay the bills when they own several houses which are rented and seem to always be spending money. They also seem to live fairly well. They write really sensational discussions about being worried to their wits end because there is no money to pay bills. Apparently, several people have sent money on more than one occasion and I'm betting that when things improve, she doesn't pay it back.
There will always be people who try to scam and cheat others. Some of those people may be really close to you. Some people are just greedy and dishonest and that's a bad combination.
I live by the rule ... neither a borrower nor a lender be. I do not lend money and I do not borrow money. I also don't trust people I don't know personally.

Hell Oldsix,
I am not sure whether she needed the money really but it is very obvious, normally we can’t trust people who comes online and asks money. Actually she should gain your trust for getting money from you.
I don’t have chat friends other than mylot and nobody asked any money to me so far. If I am that much rich I would have sit at home and take care of my kids well instead of coming to the office for work.

It may have been a legitimate need, but probably not. People will say all kinds of things to get money. I would never give that kind of money to anyone, even if I had it! If she is doing business, why didn't she go to a bank for a loan? Thanks for sharing this.

I have seen mylotters ask for money at the site, although it´s forbidden. I have given my email to very few online people. I have only one friend to whom I have sent small quantities of money once in a while because he is poor and handicapped. But he is a good friend and has been caring for many years.
This woman you are talking about is no friend of yours. We all need money, but we don´t beg for it.

Hi Oldsix691418,
We don't know her real motive for asking that amount of money, unless you did give in to her request. Supposing, you did lend her the money. Would there be a possibility that she would disappear into thin air. Or, she would be grateful, true to her words, and return the money with interest in real time. We would never know. Money is hard-earned nowadays, and people are more careful with spending.

I seen someone here in mylot posting that they needed money too. Did you ask this lady why she needed so much money??? She certianly sounds like a crook to me. If you had loaned her the money you may have just as well said goodbye to it and her. She probably had no intentions of paying back so much as a penny. She probably changes her name often too.

I don't know how much 60000 yuan is but it sounds like a lot to me and even if I had it I would not just give it to someone who has the nerve to ask over the internet like that. Don't get me wrong I do believe in helping people but there are so many scams online she should at least respect you enough to know that you would feel uncomfortable answering her request. You don't have any idea if her story is true or not, you have no basis on whihc to trust her to return it to you. Anyone can give you a hardluck story. I can give you one that would bring you to tears. I desperately need money myself and probably most of the mylot community has a financial need of some kind) and I would not dare ask anyone on here for money and jeopardize the relationships on here. I am glad you did not give her the yuan. My guess is if you had that would be the last you would have seen of it.

Hi,there! It's mothan 360000 dollars.Yes,I think that's a funny way to borrow money from the others.Or that can easily be had as a scam since it's so hasty. As usual even when I have to lend money to my relatives I never give such a big sum that hastily.
She talked to me on her cellphone for over 8 minutes and said that I didn't trust her.But I answered I never lied and couldn't help her.And till now I haven't seen her online through her computer.

A proper way to send money to someone is if you pay for his/her services. Or if you are trying to buy a product. You could always help a friend, but you could afford a certain amount.

So terrible.
In my case, a Chinese lady whom I recognized in mylot add me in her msn.
After chatting for few times, she told me that she lent $100.00 USD to a Singaporean guy in Singapore.
When I asked about the reason she lent those money to him, she never answered me.
Then I asked her what she did want me to help, she was quite too.
I straight away told her that if I were she, I should not lend any money to a stranger inclusive her.
ha1 ha! Later, we never have anymore contact.
Never trap in this type of scam.

Never give money to anybody u've just met for a day or even a year. They are more likely to run away with the money, and what's the point of having their name and number, when u won't know it's real? Besides, with the sum money she borrowed from u, she can't be that poor either. With that, it doesn't need a month for her to return it all since she's a business woman. Cash turnovers are fast, and it's definitely a scam.

Yes actually I have been in a situation like that. There was this guy I who added me on my messenger and we used to chat. We weren't that close but he did give me the impression of funny guy. Then one day all of a sudden he asked me for money. He promised he'd return it after sometime and blabla. I just didn't believe it and I said I couldn't. The other thing was I didn't have the money as I was just 16 or something. We just stopped talking after that.
You see the thing about online friends is that we don't know if they are really in need of money or if they are just cheats. We have to be careful, but being honest, I would never lend money to someone I had never seen or met in life.
