I was wondering if teething rings were dangerous because they fill them in with some type of fluid not sure if it's water but I remember when I was baby-sitting my nephew and he was chewing on it the fluid was leaking a little I would say a pin hole size, I told his mother (my sister) and she was not concerned at all I told her take him to a doctor just in case but she never did, does anyone know what kind of fluid is inside the teething ring toys? I care about my nephew and don't want anything happening to him, I'm worried that he swallowed some of the fluid.

They are filled with water, which is not harmful to the baby. When the water feeezes, it creates a soothing effect on the gums. I have used them many times with my daughter who is now three and very healthy.

Hi,
They can be unsafe if they break as the liquid inside may contain harmful bacteria. Also look for teethers that are BPA free, BPA is a harmful chemical found in most plastic products. Natural wooden teethers are the best as wood is naturally antibacterial.
I recommend Amber Teething Necklaces as a natural way to treat teething pain. Check out http://www.wildsheep.co.uk

It's probably just water in them. When my first son was teething, I had the same worries, so I decided to test one.... yes I poked a hole and tasted the liquid. It was nasty, like plastic flavor, but its just water. I didn't get sick or anything. And my son has chewed through a few and never gotten sick. Now a lot of manufacturers write on the package that its just water inside them. So as long as its new, I'm pretty sure it won't hurt him.
