Why would an employer push workers out the door?

My husband is a very hard worker. He produces twice as much as people making the same amount of money as him. It used to be people making more, but he finally got a raise after several people b!tched to the management about needing more money. Anyway he does his job, everything he is told, yet his boss wants him to do more and do the job of a supervisor when he's barely getting paid to work on a saw. He helps everyone who needs help and trains new people(that's not his job and they make more money than he does). He is constantly being told his work isn't good enough even though he does exactly as they say, including stopping what he's doing to fix problems people higher up than him screwed up. Yet other workers are claiming bosses show him favoritism. Everyone is trying to push him(and several other people) out the door even though they work harder than people getting paid more. We cannot afford for him to get fired but that's whats going to happen. I hate that p o s company and everyone who runs it is dirty as h3ll. So were screwed and there's no one to help us. We don't know what to do. Thanks for listening cuz I'm really so mad right now. I have half the mind to email the website telling them how horrible they are.

I'm afraid that it's not the problem only you husband is facing. Nowadays the economy is not that good which inevitably leads to a high unemployment rate. Under such circumstances, many bosses always ask their employees to do something more but don't increase their salaries. The employees have no choice but follow the orders for they understand there are many people outside who are looking for jobs. But you'd better not feel too sad about this situation. If you work so hard in the company but get no additional reward for a long time, it means that the company you work for doesn't have a effective system. It is unable to attract talents and has a dark future.

Unfortunately you're right. Right after my husband started there the company was sold and since then it has gone downhill. Things that need to be done aren't and money is wasted by the new owner. Instead of rewarding his employees, he is pushing them out the door. Lots of people have found new jobs. Bad thing for us is we live way out in the country and cannot afford a longer commute. It already takes him an hour to get to where he works now. Maybe we can find a new job and house somewhere better but with the economy the way it is, I doubt it.

A hard worker will only e noticed if he shows himself. If he is really present.
The people who do make promotion are not esp. the hardest workers but those who show themselves in every way. Who say: I will do the job (even if they let others do the job for them), who say: I want promotion (not ask if they perhaps might get a bit more money).
In real life the one who is always shouting at loud will be rewarded. Not the one who is waiting for his turn.
Also many managers only care about how to keep the costs low, not about quality.
And this all makes me mad too!

From what my husband says, he and another employee, are the only ones really producing high quantities of pipe. Faster than the next department can finish working on them. And his boss still says he's not working hard enough. The company is what is hurting the company, the owner does not know how to run a business. And he does not like my husband because he comes up with ideas to better the company. You would think he would like that quality, but I guess he sees it as my husband challenging his authority.
