How do you feel about the amount of Vocaloids there are?

Personally, I'm getting a little overwhelmed. When I first heard about the Vocaloids, I think it was when Gumi/Megpoid was released, and there were 12 (including the English, and counting Rin and Len as one).
But now, there are 24 and more on the way! Not to mention the amount of fanmade Vocaloids, PLUS the genderbent versions....
One thing that bugs me about there being so many is I think the females sound too similar. Iroha Nekomura has a deeper voice than the others, so she is the only one with a distinctive voice. The rest sound pretty alike in terms of them having high pitch voices. Lily and Luka sound more mature, but then the two of them sound alike themselves. I can't help but think how many more female Vocaloids do we need with high voices?! _

I am still waiting for a decent hard rock voice. So far, none of them fit the bill for that purpose. I agree, most of the female voices sound very similar, though I am able to at least change that using Avox vocal tool box. But no ammount of tweaking seems to be able to make a crooner sound like a rock singer.

I'm sorry I took long to reply :/
I can't offer many tips though. I'm only a listener--I don't create any music with the Vocaloids.
According to the Vocaloid wikia, Miki is supposed to be good for rock. I'm not sure about hard rock... Also, Gakupo might be a good choice.

With their current count? Yep, overwhelming.
I have no problems with that though, as I'm referring each song I've listened to their respective producers, so it's much easier for me to know which voicebank are they using.
On other note, seems that the usage of GUMI is being common nowadays. Huh.
