That is entirely possible. If participating in MyLot has really increased emjay's computer time there may be an element of eye strain involved in the headaches.

Hi emjay!
You're getting excited!
For me there's really no trick here. You pick which discussion you want to respond to, a discussion that you think you can contribute something good, and then you respond to it. I basically pick discussions from my friends, from my interests, and from the myLot digests. I also try to start discussions whenever I think of something good or something I just want to share.
I guess there is probably a trick here. You should post quality discussions and responses. When you respond to a discussion, there's a note beside the box that says "Please be descriptive as possible." It's not just a simple note. It's a reminder from myLot that you have to say something good or else, you won't earn from it.
Happy myLotting!

I turn on notifications from my friends. If they post, I am notified. I open them up. Sometimes I cannot add anything to the discussion so I may rate the poster, but I close it up and move on to the next. If I run out of discussions that my friends have started I go to today's top discussions and proceed from there. If I cannot add something to a discussion, though, I do not answer it. If someone responds to my discussion, I always go back and comment on their response. I go from there and may have quite a lengthy chat with my friends. I am sorry you have a headache. Just relax and have fun visiting with people from all over the world.

Apparently, I have questions here..
1. How do I turn on notification? Where do I receive it?
2. I don't know anything about poster.
Thank you GardenGerty because now, I am not minding the headache but minding the enjoyment I feel being in mylot and interacting with people all over the world. :)

Responding to your friends discussions not mandatory. So take your time and select the topic you can relate and you like. If you find the discussion of your friend unrelated to you. Just delete them and move to next one.
Prioritize the discussion you like the most.

I am quite new here - less than 1 1/2 mths - and so I can't answer your question. For me, I respond to any discussions that interest me. I don't respond with the aim of earning money because the daily earnings here are really negligible.

Well its all up to you. You might be spending so much time in your computer hoping to post as many as you can. Take a deep breath or perhaps close your eyes gor a while. Then from there go back to mylot. It would alsi help if you choose discussions based on your interest to reply with so you would be at ease in replying.

Welcome to My Lot. I take care of my notifications each day, which I am very behind in by the way. After that I used to start my own discussions usually once or twice a week although I have stopped that for a while because I am so busy catching with over 1500 notifications! Starting my own posts is time consuming because I like to comment on each of the responses I receive which is the courteous thing to do and a nice way to ensure a post turns into a real discussion.

myLot has nothing to do with your headache. Perhaps it is your approach. With a population of 234041 no one so far has complained about having head ache here Don't strain too much but just go with the flow. Start a topic - you have done that already and comment on responses received. Pick topics that interest you and respond there and if you receive comments to your responses put your further comments if you feel they deserve to be commented on.As simple as that! Welcome to myLot.

I keep my track on discussions that I like and cached my attention. I prefer about love/relationships and mylot issues. I just skip those discussions that doesn't fit my interest. Don't feel any pressure emjay. just enjoy your moment here in mylot.Meet new friends and got great advice if you have problems. Have a nice day!

Hi there, I was experiencing the same when I was fresh and new here. What I'm doing is, I open my email account and there I read my friends' discussions and if I have something in mind to comment, I'll open it on a new tab or window and reply there. Then I'd go back to my email account and do the same routinely. That's how I managed to keep myself updated and at the same time not to miss any discussions from friends though I don't comment on those that I don't know the answer rather leave it to other myLotters to do so. And from that time, that I'm done reading all the discussions, that's when I start jotting down my own and then respond to comments as soon as I can. I hope that this help you with some strategy. Happy myLotting!
