I believe foods prepared at home can assure our children that what they are being taken in are safe and healthy as compared to fast foods and restaurants that are costly at times. There are tempting restaurants out there that seem to be convenient and accessible, but least that we know how much it contains a lot of salt, MSG, and other ingredients that are harmful to youngsters and even adults. I have always encouraged my kids to eat more at home than at these unhealthy resto.

That's a good start! Keep it coming then and encourage your kids to even eat healthy foods such as vegetables and fruits. Discipline starts at home and when you don't encourage your kids on the right and proper way to eat good food, then it will be a parents fault.
Eating outside is really much more expensive than just preparing the food at home. So be sure also to learn how to cook and prepare foods well. You may also encourage your kids to help you along as you cook so that they can participate and learn also how to cook and they might get interested.

When my children were little, we took them once in a while on a sunny Sunday to eat a pizza. All the rest of the food was made at home from scratch and that´s the way it was. It wasn´t a matter of encouraging them: they did not have a choice. And neither did we, the grownups, if we wanted to give the children nourishing food, good education and health care. Cooking at home is not only more healthy but a lot cheaper.
