So, I don't exercise. Rarely. And today, the thought occured to me that I should dance. And I don't mean go to a dance studio and dance. I meant, turn on my radio and dance like a crazy nutcase! I must say, it was quite invigorating. I might get out of this chair and dance again. Hey, why not? I'm finally exercising! And it's...fun! What's your form of exercise?

I do enjoy exercising also and dancing is something I do love to do. I do exercise on my bike here at home. I did have to cut it back now to three days a week for 1/2 simply for cardio now as I can't afford to loose any more weight. I use to use it one hour a day and five days a week and it helped me now for three years. Dancing is good as you will use some muscles their you normally do not with walking and or jogging.

That is true and maybe one day I will give her break. She use to cry all over the lot. Now she is happy and dancing so maybe time for something different someday soon.

Hi StephanieAnnC, Well done for finally exercising and a great free way of doing it rather than expensive gym memberships etc. I tend to use the Wii Fit in which there are quite a few dance type games too available and now I have a dog in the family again will get a lot more walking exercise too. Huggles. Ellie :D

I have never been one for exercise after leaving school. I know I walk alot and I mow 1 and a half acres of grass a week. When I do choose to exercise I put Zumba on the XBOX with Kinect and work out in the living room.

Sounds to me like you get plenty of exercise the good old-fashioned way -- in your daily activities. That's the way I prefer to get mine, when I can. Exercise for its own sake seems like such a waste of time for me. I'd rather work in the garden or do some other active chore.

Hi sweetie. Dancing is the best exercise. Do enjoy it. If someone have something to say, let them join you, makes it more fun.

I love swimming and I think I'm quite addicted to this because I can swim about 5 miles and I don't feel tired. With my disability I can really enjoy this sport. I exercise every day to keep myself fit. I do some pilates.

Wow! 5 miles without being tired! That's great stamina you have! I like swimming, but I'm definitely not the strongest swimmer, since I only really swim once in a blue moon. I don't have a pool and the local lakes and stuff aren't the best.

I have swimming pool in my area and I swim wherever I can. Water makes me independent with movement and I really feel active and no different than healthy people.

Exercise is so boring to me. Within 5 minutes of exercising im tired and ready to stop. To keep in shape i do fun things like dance, hula-hoop and jumprope.

I tried to hula hoop a couple of months ago and couldn't do it. I have no idea how I lost that ability between my teenage years and the age of thirty, but I certainly lost it.

I have never been able to hula-hoop -- even when I was young. I just never caught on to the trick and the hoop would always fall down. It looked so easy when everyone else did it. I used to jump rope, too, but I'm afraid it would destroy my knees now.

I like water exercises, but I also do universal weight machines, or ride a stationary bike. I think dance is an excellent form of exercise and I should probably do that again as well. It gets your heart rate up and probably also makes you smile.

I mostly walk as exercise. I walk fast enough to get slightly breahtless, but not too much as I don't believe in pushing myself to the limit any more. I used to do this, but it doesn't really do much good, because I found the more exercise I did in the gym, the more I needed, so gradually I stopped going and find that I enjoy my exercise more now. I would dance if there was a crowd of people to do it with, but exercising in front of a video was quite boring, and I like to enjoy my activities. I think what you are doing if great, especially as you find it enjoyable and invogorating and a great way of getting fit and healthy. _Derek

hi stephanie ann. my form of exercising is between brisk walking (which i do normally), running, and jogging ( which, i wish i had more time to do). while at the office, i do push ups at my desk. 10-15 perhaps 20 reps every hour or so. lol! yes, when my boss and other office mates, saw me the first time i do it, they thought i was a sport nut/health buff. i'm glad that they're used to seeing me do push-ups here at work because i was tired of answering their questions and hearing their comments about it. anyway, i've always believed that any form of physical activity can be considered as exercise so yeah dancing like a crazy nutcase fits the bill to a 't'!!!!

Richard Simmons used to have a show on tv. He did some tapes too. Dancin' to the Oldies I think they were called. Several exercises he would do during a song and get everyobdy enthused and invigorated. He was a pretty bizarre character and acted pretty efeminate and silly but he helped alot of women.

My major forms of exercise are housework and wrangling cats. Wrestling a squirming cat into submission so that I can clean her/his ears is quite a workout... and we won't even get into how much exercise (and bandages) are involved in bathing them.

I guess my form of exercise is the long walk I take every time I go to work. It's a pretty long walk so I treat it as an exercise. Other than that, I got nothing else. I used to go to the gym to work out but I just got tired of it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the gym. I got tired going because I just don't have enough time for it.

You sound like me. I hated the gym. I gave it a try because my doctor and my husband were pushing me. Why use a treadmill when you can walk outside for free and enjoy the fresh air and scenery at the same time. The only argument in favor of the treadmill in the gym is that if you are old or have heart problems, the machines monitor your heart rate, and if you should fall or have a heart attack, someone is there to help you right away.

I do exercise regularly when I wake up. But that exercise is only light. It consists of some breathing, stretching and calisthenics. As for heavy exercise, I am into sports like basketball and tennis. They really make my body move and sweat a lot. It makes me feel alive whenever I get to play such sports. But sometimes due to a busy schedule, I just do some shooting for basketball and shadowing for tennis. Better to have those simple exercises when I don't have the time to play the game itself.

I'd say walking in every season but summer. It's too hot for me to do that now. I've been forbidden by my doctor to do any kind of exercise other than walking, or being in the pool. And I'm not getting into the pool in my apartment complex. But during the summer my main form of exercise is housework! lol But according to experts that really does burn a lot of calories.

I can't move very well because of my arthritis and scoliosis so I do what I can. I fidget, moving my foot and bouncing my legs when I'm sitting still. I try to make several trips instead of one to the kitchen, the dining room or upstairs/downstairs. When I put groceries away I try to do it one at a time if I'm not hurting too much from shopping. When I put the laundry in the basket from the dryer I get one item and turn to the basket half behind me and about 3 feet away. Stuff like that. On good days I get on my stationery bike while I watch a silent movie. If I'm laying on the couch I do leg lifts. I don't exercise all in one go but in stages all through the day. It seems to keep me limber enough and if I'd do it all at once it would be some aerobic and lots of stretching that would amount to about 20 minutes a day. I'd love to dance like you do but this old body never did have any rythm! But I do like to stand in place when I can and march or stretch. You're right, it does feel good!

Bit of a sore point. I do go swimming once a week but spend a lot of the time talking to friends. I have a cycle which I try and use as much as possible but I dont use it often enough. I don't walk a lot as I only have one leg. I would go doing housework for local ladies but my wife as spinal stenoses and needs me quite lot so I do our housework but we only have a two bedroom bungalow so there is not a lot to do. I keep thinking I might go back to doing akido (I have a green belt for that) but I stopped doing that as it was damaging my good knee.

Wow StephanieAnnC, that is one thing we have in common. On Friday nights I listen on the Internet to this station out of Detroit. The DJ is spinning old school music for a crowd, and I am listening and dancing, especially to the line dance type of songs. "Left foot stomp, and right foot stomp, and cha cha to the left...." I get a lot of exercise when I walk to the bank or to my mother's house. At least once a week I lift the dumbbells, and work on my Abcoaster. I still don't exercise like I should though.
