being on call

In the past my husband had a job where he was on call. They called him very often, and it was hard to plan anything, because we never knew when he was going to work. My husband found the situation very frustrating, because he was never really able to relax. On the other hand we were also happy when they called him, because his job helped us pay the bills and we were grateful for the extra money that we got that way. Today he is not on call, that means less money, but it is also nice because we are able to plan our time together.

I know how you feel, my boyfriend is on call as well. He actually just got called out. It sucks but we both like nice things and this job gives us that.

Being on call is a hassle. You'll never know when work will call you. I have an uncle who's also an on-call doctor. He said even if he's in the bathroom doing his business, when job calls, he always responded. I bet your boyfriend wants to get a new job too. If both of you are not happy with it, I'm sure he'll find a more decent job than this. He should stay in the company within a reasonable amount of time first so that he can include this on his resume.

Your boyfriend and mine! I shouldn't complain but the only thing I should complain about is that he doesn't let know that he's on call! He just types out "brb" and doesn't come back. We're in a long distant relationship and we spend as much as time as we can together. However, I am thankful for the time we get to spend. He's coming to visit me soon and I'm sure by then, he won't be on call!
