If you had the chance to meet one of your favourite authors who would you choose and why? What kind of questions would you ask him or her?
I would like to meet a Danish author called Sten Langstrup and I would ask him if he was going to write more short stories. I think that his short stories are awesome, but I don't enjoy his novels. I find his novels pretty boring and predictable, but he seems to prefer novels, and he hasn't written any new short stories for a while. If he goes back to short stories, I will definately buy his books
If I had the chance to meet an international author I would choose Guy Burt or Richard Kalich. I am not sure what I would ask them, but I would like to meet them and talk to them because I enjoy their books.

If was given to opportunity, i would choose to meet Agatha Christie. I am interested to Agatha Christie because of his ability to write a novel that reaches the world's best seller. According to The Guiness Book Of Records, sales reached 2 billion coppies. And i would ask to her, how to write good, so that in can tune all the people from various circles?

I can see that Agatha Christie is a popular author in this discussion. It could be interesting to ask her how she became such a great writer, because she is extremely popular and he books have been translated to so many different languages. When I was younger I read many of her books, and it wasn't easy to find them at the library, because some of them very popular and I had to wait several months to get them.

hi porcospino.
great topic you have going on here.
i'm an avid reader myself and have followed the career and read the books of notable authors such as robert ludlum, mitch albom, j.r.r. tolkien, and a couple of local ones like f. sionil jose and nick joaquin.
however, the one author that i would like to meet is clive cussler. i have collected his books and have followed his career. the guy breathes and lives like dirk pitt, the main character in his novels. the government agency in his novels, national underwater and marine agency, is an actual non-profit organization that clive cussler founded. here is a link about clive cussler, http://clive-cussler-books.com/ and about numa, http://www.numa.net/clive_cussler.html.
one of his books, 'sahara', has been made into a movie although i haven't watched that yet.

hi porcospino.
cussler is indeed a very productive author. not only does he have time to write books, he also joins the expeditions done by numa. i think the stories that he writes are products of his expeditions. ludlum's books are a good but lengthy read. the build up in his stories are very suspenseful but sometimes dragging in my opinion. anyway, his stories are great and i've always picked up a book or two from him during summer as part of my pool of books to read over that two month span.

I visited the website about Clive Cussler. He seems to be a very productive author, I was impressed to see the number of books that he has written. I have never read any of his books and it is the first time that I hear his name. I have heard about some of the other authors that you mentioned like Robert Ludlum and Tolkien. I know that my husband likes Robert Ludlum's books a lot, but I haven't read any of them myself.

Hi, Porcospino! I'm sorry, I put my answer in a wrong place, so I repeat it again.
If it was possible I'd like to meet James Clavell. He's one of my favourite authors because he combines dramatic plots and interesting characters with almost documentary descriptions of countries and historical periods. I'd like to ask him how he got to write Whirlwind with the description of the Islamic revolution in Iran. This novel is one of my favourite books.
As to the modern danish authors, it's a shane that I don't know them. But if I could meet Hans Christian Anderse, I'd like to express my gratitude because I grew up with his tales /who hasn't?/ and I read them to my daughter.

I have never read any of James Clavell's books, but the descriptions of countries and historical periods sound interesting. I like to read books where I am to learn something while I read a good story. Quite few of the modern Danish authors have been translated I think. The only ones I can think of are Peter Hoegh who writes novels and Piet Hein who wrote poetry. I also grew up with the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen. I grew up in the city where he was born and I have visited his museums several times.

I haven't read any of the books by Anne Rice, but she is on the list of books that I would like to read one day. I think that I would also be shy if I met my favourite authors, and it would be a strange feeling to meet them in person, but it could be really interesting I think.

I know Agatha Christe and I have read many of her books, but I had never heard about Willa Cather, so I looked up the name when I read your response and I discovered that she is an American author. Is there is a special reason why you would like to meet those authors?

I have never read anything by Paul Stewart. I haven't read many fansasy books, but it is one of the genres that I would like to get to know better, and in another discussion I got the names of some authors that I am going to read. Many of the books that I have read have been completely different like books that are based on the real stories, and I think that it could be interesting to read something from another genre.

Yes, Shakespeare is very popular and famous. I have read Macbeth, but it could be interesting to read some of his other books. I had never heard about Kalidas before, so it looked up his name on the internet. I can see that he has written both plays and poems and that his has been translated to other languages. I am going to check if he has been translated to my language (Danish) as well.

Dan Brown's book have become very famous, he has sold millions of books. In Denmark where I live "The Da Vinci Code" used to be one of the popular books at all. They are on the list of books that I would like to read (a very long list ) I have heard about the movie, but I haven't seen that one either. Anne Rice also sounds interesting to me, because the books that she write are somilar to the books that I usually read, so I would also like to read them.

I don't know Neil Strauss, but I read a few books by Ian Fleming many years ago. I remember looking for the books by Ian Fleming at the school library when I was a child. There are many authors that I would like to meet, because I read a lot of different books and I think that it could be interesting to meet the authors in person and talk to them about their books. If my favourite international authors ever visit my country I will try to meet them.

Yes, J.K. Rowling has really had a lot of success and she has become popular in many country including my own country (Denmark) I heard that her books have been translated to almost 70 different languages, that is amazing. If I had the chance to talk to her I would ask her how she got the inspiration for the books about Harry Potter. I know that there are films as well, but I haven't seen any of them.

I had never heard about Laura Esquivel before, but I read a little about her when I had read your response, I can see that she is a Mexican author and that her books have been translated to Danish. Your questions sound like some interesting things to ask her. When I really like a book I am also interested in knowing more about the background of the story and the things that inspired the author to write that book. If I met Richard Kalich I would like to ask him some of the same questions.

I also loved the books by R.L. Stine and I have read many of them. When I went to the library I always visited "the scary corner" at first, because I loved scary books. I liked the gooosebumps books, but my favourite books were his collections of the short stories like "The nightmare hour" and "The haunting hour". As an adult I still like to read scary stories, I don't read Stine's books anymore, but I read horror stories for adults.

I love O Henry's stories Some months ago I borrowed a collection of his stories at the library and I really enjoyed reading them. I love the way that he is able to surprice me and turn the story around in way that I didn't expect. I admire the way that he wrote and wish I were able to write like him. Unfortuneately we won't be able to meet him, but it could have been really interesting to talk him.
