Nowadays, in China, the relation is vital to the success of hunting a job. For instance, if a company's leader is your relative, then it will become very easy to get a job in this company. It's no exaggeration to say that in China, the majority of the people, whose relative is an influential leader of government, probably are at the top of companies or senior officials. It really do harm to social development. Are you in favor of this phenomenon? what's your opinion? Thank you.

I know the nepotism is common in China. It's disgusting in our eyes. is it common in Philippines? Nepotism is the origin of corruption.

if the relatives are merely appointed by virtue of their being related to higher officials, i am not in favor of that. but if there is a fair process of appointment and those relatives go through the same process with fairness and objectivity, then i see no problem with it. my primary concern of having officials in their positions is that they are capable and can deliver their duties, related or unrelated to other higher officials.

Unfortunately, there is no authentic fairness in the society, let alone someone is related to certain officials when in the process of appointment.

I used to hear a statement about the difference of recommendation between US and China. It is said that in US if a influential man recommends someone for a company, the boss may recruit that person for he thinks that the person has ability which deserves the recommendation. In China, if a influential man does the same thing, the boss recruit that man for he thinks that the refusal would make the influential man lose face. He also expects that the influential man will help him in the future. In my view, it's quite ok if the phenomenon occur in the private companies. If the boss of a private company recruits his relative who has no ability, it's him instead of the society who will pay the cost. But in public fields such as government and state enterprises, the influence of connection will inevitably damage the fairness of society.

This type of system is also rampant in our country especially on government offices this is why a law was implemented to fight this type of system. Even though there's already a law to prevent it, people always find loop holes on how to go about this, this is why we have a saying that its not what you know that could land you in a job, its who you know. This is very bad especially if you're trying to develop your business or the country in general. More people with less and less qualification will gain more access to vital positions. Those people might be incompetent for their job and the business might fail or worse - the country. This type of system should be stopped and people should give chance to choose employment candidates who are really qualified.

Well i do think jobs should be earned and not simply given. Many companies now a days, such as the one i work for, will not allow a relative of an employee to work at the same location.

Yes, most jobs can easily be snagged if you got a referral within the company. Having a higher authority backer also helps a lot for your cause. However, I really don't subscribe to this. I feel that jobs and position applications should be earned against other competitors fair and square. Getting the job wen you give out your best and no help from others makes the snagged job sweeter. It is more satisfying and fulfilling if you got it hard and head on rather than just because of the influence of others.
