An optometrist in India has created diamond encrusted / gold plated contact lens. They certainly do give quite a shimmer to ones eyes. But as the reporter in the video says it's not worth 15k nor what you may or may not do to your eyes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/06/diamond-encrusted-contact-lenses_n_920141.html If money was no object would you try them?

I say Yes! Diamonds, gold and crystal have its own medicinal properties. Remember when crystal was so in trend that it can cure certain ailments. I did gave my nephew a crystal bracelet when he was in coma together with prayer he is now healthy and doing well. I have not watch the video you suggested maybe later i will. I am a female and Diamonds are a girls best friend.

Yes diamonds are a girls best friend, but I think the health of my eyes are more valuable than diamonds.

No thanks.. sounds painful! Sometimes normal contacts can feel a little scratchy or make you feel like you've got something other than the contact in your eye. Also there was a time I got a terrible eye infection from the contacts.. and ended up getting scratches and ulcers (that were infected) on my cornea. I will forever have scars on that cornea, though they don't interfere with my vision and you can't see them unless you look real close. But still.. I will stay away from anything they could potentially cause damage to my eyes because that infection was a nightmare!

I can't imagine what you've gone thru with that infection. I know when my eyes were deprived of air because they did not have extended wear lens then it was painful and all I did was sleep for a day or two as I couldn't even open my eyes.

Oh, hell no! I'd use that money to get another Lasik treatment so I wouldn't have to wear regular or reading glasses then I'd go to a fat farm and lose this excess weight--then it wouldn't matter if my eyes sparkled or not, I'd look very good! It's great that he's donating money that serves vanity to a good cause. I like the idea or that, turning a character flaw into service for others.

I had Lasik in 2004 and where I was nearly legally blind before I can now function without glasses. The procedure has so improved that I could have 20/20 now and even not need reading glasses. However, it's expensive so it's out of the question right now. There's nothing wrong with wearing glasses! My vision was just so bad that I was helpless without my glasses and being the independent person that I am, I waiting till it was proven safe and I had the money to do it.

Sounds like they are probably very beautiful to wear, but I think the guy you were speaking of is correct. I think it might damage your eyes to put that on there. Do you think so? I would like to see someone wear them. I guess I will look at that link. Pretty neat tho. And you say $15,000. I probably won't be wearing them for a while.!

I think the price indeed will cause people to not wear them along with the possible damage to your eyes.

hehe isn't diamond is the hardest stone? so perhaps it can harm the eye, and who will spend that much for a pair of contact lens anyway? unless maybe it have a brand inside your eye saying that's a diamond and worth that much:D for me if I have that kind of money I'd rather spend it in a much important one, or even giving it to the charity, at least it makes me feel better for life for sure.

I've heard of this on the news,I don't know who will buy these contacts I don't know whats so special about them other than they are gold. 15k? do you know that people can buy with that money? I would not waste my money on that thing they already have contacts that look similar to it.

For the average person 15k could do some help in ones debts and life style even just a tiny bit. I agree, I could do much more with 15k than embellish my eyes with something so frivalous.

Even I have enough money to buy it, no way to waste. I don't need any accessories to addend my beauty. Natural beauty is enough for me.

As pretty as they seem I think that if I had money to spare I would get the lasik as dragon says above. I don't think money should be spent on such high cost contacts this way. I figured if one did not want surgery then with that kind of money even nice cool glasses would be cheaper. No I would not be eager to buy these even if I could afford them. Plus they can cause damage too that no amount of money later would probably be able to repair.

To be honest I would never dare to wear such lents. Ok, they might be beautiful but in the moment I realize they can also hurt my eyes they immediately loose their charm. Even if I had all the money in the world I would never buy them. I already have to wear glasses and even if I look better without them (of course wearing lents) I keep on wearing them regularly to go to university or at work because people should never abuse of normal lents either. That's what my doctor told me and, trust me, he's totally right. Have you ever tried wearing lents for a whole day? How uncomfortable!!! .

First of all, I don't bother with makeup. To me my face is good as it is and if a man or another woman does not like it, to bad. I am comfortable with my face and body and I see no reason to waste time and money on cosmetics. Others are welcome to it, but I prefer not to. I take the same approach to these contacts. Secondly, these contacts sound dangerous. According the video, these contacts can scratch your eyes. I am near sighted and I sure don't want to risk damaging my eyes more! My vision is to precious to me to risk adornment that might be harmful! Thirdly, I don't find the effect of these contacts glamorous. I find the grey ring that goes over the model's iris to be creepy! To me it is not alluring in any way! It is just...weird looking. So in short, if money was no object, I would still not try on these contacts. :)
