Epilepsy cannot be cured. It can only be controlled (and quite effectively, in most cases). Epilepsy is NOT contagious. It is not due to a bacterium or virus but is a malfunction of a part of the brain. It is often congentital but not directly genetic (though if there is a family history of epilepsy, one may be more at risk). It can sometimes be due to a brain injury later in life but is most often caused by difficulties before or soon after birth.

Well said owlwings! You explained it to a tee. In the course of many years of nursing, I was always surprised at how many people had misconceptions about epilepsy.

You are ABSOLUTLY wrong, saparidiki. Check online and you will find that what owlings says is true. And by control, it can mean tha if the person takes his meds, he might not have more seisures. It is a pity that people with access to the web have such misconceptions about some conditions.

It's not contagious. It can be cured with surgery, but that can be iffy at best. The brain is mapped to find the seizure area(s) and this is burned off and should prevent more seizures in the future. It's not 100% as seizures could pop up in other areas of the brain, or continue in that same area, but it can limit the number and severity of them if and when they do occur.

Epilepsy is not contagious and it is due to several causes. sometimes it is even a sympthom of something else. There are a wide of meds that help get rid of the symptoms, but them don`t cure it. Still, if the epileptic follows the doctor`s advise, in most cases he`ll lead a perfectly normal life.

there is a cure definetly for epilepsy which depends on its degree and sure it is not contagious for example a mom cant transmit epilepsy to her child although a person with family history of epilepsy can still be in a higher risk for getting epilepsy than that person with negative family history check that link also, it will help you alot http://137.172.248.46/treatmen.htm

There is NO cure for epilepsy. It can be controlled in the majority of patients, as the website you quote describes.
