I have seen mostly the housewives wear the kitchen wear when their sari or dress is new otherwise not. Men also wear the kitchen wear when they make the meals like showing in TV special program in which shows the various types of dishes.
What you think this is necessary to wear everytime while cooking or only when we wear the new brand cloths then it is must otherwise not…

Hi dear friend
Yes aprons are used to protect our clothing while cooking. I only use one if I am wearing something really nice and want to protect it from any splattering of food while cooking. Very rare that I would use one but I have.
There are some famous male cooks here and women too, who do wear it and it makes sense because cooking is a favorite and creating several meals at one time there is bound to be spills and splattering that they will not want their clothing to be stained.

surekha: I recommend people wearing kitchen wear -- it helps spoiling of clothes, it also makes one to be more careful once he/she wears that while going inside kitchen - to prevent problems from fire.

dear sis,
You mean apron...:)
I do wear apron when I cooked a lot for an occasion.
But with daily cooking, I don't wear one because I do household chores at a time.
Usually I clean the house while cooking, or sometimes I am doing the laundry.
So, every now and then I go outside house and doesn't stay in the kitchen while cooking (hehehe)
have a good day
sis,

When I was single and used to cook very often, never used kitchen wear but I can see my wife use that and feel it is required. We were very casual in the kitchen and there were very few items that we used to cook but now a days choices are more and to be clean and save cloths we should were kitchen wear. I do not think it must be brand new .. any kitchen wear which serves its objective should be good enough.
Thanks for sharing.

While it's probably not necessary, I think it's a wise choice to wear an apron while cooking. Old clothes or not, you still get plenty of spills and splatters that you didn't count on when cooking a meal. I wear one most of the time when cooking; and always when baking and working with flour and other dusty ingredients. (Or too, if I'm going to be using a mixer.) I just think it's easier to stick on an apron than to maybe have to change clothes later haha. My favorite apron is a bib type apron, so it's not just my waist down that's protected, but the blouse area too.

Saris are so beautiful, at least the ones I have seen, that I would always want to protect them. Personally, I only wear an apron if I am going to cook a lot like for a holiday, because I can also put a towel or something on the waist to help wipe my hands. Most of the rest of the time I am in casual clothes and it does not matter if they are covered up or not.

Hello, it is purely a discussion concerned with females. males cook food few times. It is their hobbey. Persons who cook on TV are professional cooks. My opinion about it is that one should be wear kitchen wear while cooking. It keep clean their clothes as well save them from burning.

Hello surekharati, its nice to meet you.
Well, I think kithcen wear is a must if the cook is wearing nice clothes. The T.V. cooks wear kitchen clothes to protect their dresses and also because it looks profesional.
Most of the housewives I know do no wear kitchen aprons and loke. Mostly because they are already doing so much around the house. Dresses don't remain fabulous when you have to scrub the floors, wash the dishes, complete the load in the laundry and feed naughty kids.
I think kitchen wear is not necessary if a person is dressed in normal indoor clothes. But if someone is wearing nice clothese and has to star in a television program, they better but some nice kitchen wear.

Hi
I don't think its necessary. At my home my mom had wear this few times but she use it rarely(only used it couple of time so far). I guess people use it that cloths don't get dirty.. Even i haven't seen anyone here at our town wearing this during cooking. I guess this is mostly used in Restaurant..

If we think it is necessary to wear then it is necessary otherwise not. There are above 75% of our people who lives in villages they do not even think about these wears. They clean themselves, wear usual cloths and put their hairs tight then enter for cooking. Yet the recipe is authentic and tasteful like deshi.

I just wear what I have been wearing all day. I don't change myclothes for cooking. the only exception would be if I was very dressed up and didn't want to get my clothese dirty, then I would change first.
In the old days, women wore aprons or pinnies when cokking to protect their clothes.

Dear friend,
If it is simple cooking I may avoid it, but I like to wear an apron, may be it may safeguard my inner dress. At times when I am in my friend's restaurant I do wear that plastic covering over my hair, also covers my hands with hand covering and also a mouth covering cloth. This type of dress I learn from one of my friend who have a small restaurant. There I used to cook my own various dishes and also helps the chef there. At times I enjoy cooking. My friend who runs this restaurant is also a good cook, I got all these basic dressing from his guidance, so that the food will be much hygienically prepared. The hair will not fall, salivas from mount do fall, any dust from our body will fall on food. Those who come to his restaurant had appreciated him for preparing the food so hygienically. But apart using all these also I feel good food can be prepared. May we need that resistance power in our body to resist any kinds of diseases. I feel we all like food that is prepared in hygienically.

Hi Surekha,
It is not necessary actually. But I agree it also depends on the person whether he/she is wearing good dress and supposed to go out then wearing an apron will definitely beneficial. Usually I am getting ready for my officer after finishing all kitchen works so I don’t need it in my day to day life. I have some aprons in handy in case of emergency.

I cook in whatever clothes I´m wearing. But usually I have clothes to be at home and other kind to go out. If I have guests for diner, I first cook, then I take a bath an "get beautiful", with perfumes, nice dress and all that. I would not try friend onions and french perfume!
Happy posting!
