I've watched the movie again recently and started a debate with a friend on this theme. He told me that because V the comic book appeared at the same time with batman, superman and other superheroes comic book, he was regarded as an antihero and didn't have much success. In other words, he did good but in questionable ways.
In my eyes though he's a bigger hero than all the Justice League put together because :
it's harder to save people from themselves and a bad dictatorial regime than super aliens from out of space;
it's quest is much more real and contemporary and makes people open their eyes
he sacrificed himself even during his life "posing" as the bad guy
he though his plan carefully for years and didn't back down
he gave people a choice and the power to do the change themselves.
For all the reasons above , I believe V and the symbol he represents are much more powerful than the regular superheroes.
What do you, myloters think? Is V a bad guy or a good guy? Hero or anti-hero? Are there still countries that need someone like V even in the 21st century?

If he is more of an antihero. In a way he is a hero but she is doing it in a dirty way. He is fighting a dictatorial regime somewhere in a futuristic England. His way of fighting the oppressed is by killing. Anyway if he is more of a one shot graphic novel hero, he is not like superman or bat man who have an ongoing series. I love the action sequences of that movie and kudos to Natalie portman for shaving her head. Most actresses as pretty as her wouldn't sacrifice their beauty for a role. V is more of a heroic antihero. Speaking of anti heroes, there'll be an antihero movie you must wait for.
The Deadpool movie, its about a funny supervillain who is occasionally heroic if he is paid with money.

Hello,CaptAlbertWhisker! Thank you for participating in the discussion. I understand this point of view but i say this : so he's dirty for killing a bunch of lowlives that enslave people in dictatorships...but soldiers killing for their country is ok even if it's regular people that did nothing wrong...
By this logic all soldiers are anti-heroes :P
As for Natalie, she's beautiful even with her hair cut and I have to say it was a great way to prove it :D
Oh...as for Deadpool sounds quite nice, can't wait to see it. Reminds me of Dante from Devil May Cry the anime :)) He was very heroic too when it came to being paid but somehow he managed either to get double crossed or to loose the money or having to spend it on repairs :)))

I have to say I'm not that familiar with DMC. I only saw the anime because i thought the character was very cool and funny. But I think he's interested in Lady as well. They match very well. As or the evil twin, had no idea about him but sounds interesting. I just wish they made the anime longer and detailed the main storyline some more.

I love the movie and would probably watch it again soon. I really agree with everything you just said. I just wish there were more people like V nowadays, people who are willing to give their life for a change not for themselves but for the progress of the nation, more importantly, to open the eyes of those blinded but so many things in this world today.

Hello, choybel! Yeah, we could use people like V these days, but it's sad humanity gets to the point where such people are needed. That people are so blind that they let themselves be trapped in situations they don't know how to get out of or in which they comply (which is even worse)
