For the 3rd or more time I received a text messages from anonymous person, he or she told me that the no. he/she use is his/her new roaming number and he/she said that she/he will send package like chocolates and other stuff and I even have one (1) cellphone included. This is very much obvious of scam, he/she even do not mentioned any names, even his/her name. I got annoyed for the nth time and I reply back and told him/her that I will trace his/her number if he/she didn't stop. It never replied back. This kind of people are very annoying and uneducated, scamming people in the very little and absurd way just to get money. I'm sure most of you received the same kind of text. Can you give a second to share?

I've received countless messages similar to what you've received and I just find it annoying. To think that this messages persists up to this day is an indication that there could be clueless people who take the bait. That's one of the problems when there's no governing body that controls who sale of SIM cards. God knows how many crimes a criminal can do with an untraceable SIM. They can blow car bombs, it can help in robbing banks, it can warn other criminals if the police are coming, it can be used to scam innocent victims and a lot.

I wonder that too! What if we if there's a law that for every sim we bought, we ought to register it with our real details so that we can know the owner of that sim. Like in Korea, every sim has the details of owner and it can be sell too if they don't want that sim but I doubt that the government will do that.

de regulation is good but a little bit of accountability won't hurt. In the case of the Philippines where SIM ownership is unaccounted, a simple case of providing an ID and taking a record of who purchased the SIM would do the trick. If other countries do that then there's no reason why it shouldn't be done here as well.

My Dad also received a message like this and he even saved the number thinking it was me. Fortunately my Mom does the replying and not my dad, otherwise he might have been scammed to send some load.

That God that your parents didn't fall for that trap. I mainly disregard those type of text message but sometimes, I feel annoyed and my blood runs up to my head so I replied badly so that they know that there are people who's annoyed by what they are doing.

I received quite a number of similar scam text messages from someone anonymous. Some mentioned that I have won several thousand of money and wanted me to contact someone. I also received a voice call that pretend to be someone from bank that my account having some problem and want me to give him my detail. Since there are so many cases reported in the newspaper. What I did was just ignore those people. There are too many such a scam and we should beware and be more cautious of it. Do not be panic and just think twice before respond to such a scam.

I also received that kind of text message about month or 3 weeks ago. It is too obvious that it is a scam and very irritating indeed since they just want to cheat on other people. The sad thing is they are also Filipino. I read online that they are using a software that is used by some marketers to promote their product. They will send text message to a lot phones all at once. And they are using different numbers. I just ignore it but I can't help but to be irritated at times.

I see, I guess they are spending more on texting many many numbers than getting money on their prospect victim. If that is true, good for them haha! They are spending for nothing and that is Karma.

I actually received a call from a scammer and he keeps asking about my name and my address. His excuse was that my number was on the sim card that was recently given to him and that we might be family. I was very skeptical on giving him information and I ended up getting irate on him. This was actually one of the MO for the "Budol-Budol" gang wherein they ask your location and they pose as someone you know.

Thanks for informing me about that, I didn't know that is another scam. I receive a text message from my new Sun sim of something like that. Lesson I've learned, if it looks suspicious, do not entertain such text message or call anymore.

You say it so, Lanie. Yeah, these type of messages are annoying and every time I receive one, I delete them right away. They would also ask you to send them load so that they can instruct you how to get and where to get those packages. Worse, they pretend to be a relative.

Exactly, this people are goof. I don't know if they are working as a team or solo flight only. What's funny is that they will pretend to be relative but they do not even mention any names and even their name. The one I replied with still do not replied to my text message, I guess he's/she's frightened of what I said. I hope so!

Its indeed very annoying. There are many people who do such things and they are the ones "who try to come through the back door" and they do that because they have bad intentions or a kind of dirty tricks. We must always avoid such people and if possible bring to law.

I am half serious when I told him/her that I will trace his/her mobile number, I am wondering if it is possible. The provider is Globe.
