Do you know that recently the website of the National Museum www.nationalmuseum.gov.ph now features a 360deg virtual panoramic tour of the museum?
See for yourself. This actually encouraged me to bring my nieces to the Museum last Saturday just to see the exhibits. It is quite educational and relaxing at the same time!!
Closed on Mondays and holidays, the museum open on Tuesday-Sunday from 10AM to 4PM
Entrance fee (as of current) is Php100 for adults and Php30 for kids.
But on Sundays, it is free for walk ins (not a big group, I guess)
It is two buildings (actually 3 if you include the Planetarium). It has airconed rooms to properly preserve the artworks.
We entered the museum 11:30AM and walked through the two buildings until 3:30PM!!!
We did not linger much on the details of the artwork, information overload :)
I would suggest that you first take the virtual tour before you get there, the advantage is that beforehand you can already read its references and history online, so that when you get there it is more on the appreciation side of it.
I would definitely go back there.

I've been here way back in grade school. I only remember the Spoliarium painting. Is it for free during Sundays? Wow that is really great. Haha I'll probably pay a visit this weekend. I planned to go there a month ago because the museum looks scary. Is camera allowed inside? I hope not.

Hi chiwasaki,
Yes a camera is allowed inside, though they discourage you to use the flash as to preserve the artworks. No food or drinks allowed you will have to leave them at the lobby, you can only bring your wallet, cellphone and camera.
The spolarium is located in the main building, you can go there first.
If you can, go the their website the enjoy the 360deg virtual tour.
Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for the information. I've never been to the national museum and I really do not know that we actually have a website for it. Haha! I watched the national treasures though and I saw some artifacts stored there, it really made us curious too.
I live quite far from Manila, but given a chance I would like to bring my kids there when they are older so they can appreciate it.
