His birthday is on September 11th, not the best day to have your birthday on. Anyway, I don't know what to get him. I have about a hundred dollars credit on Amazon, I'm thinking about spending 20-30 dollars on a book or something. He is always saying that he needs a new book to read, but he was on vacation so I'm not sure if he will have time to read it anytime soon but I still think that it's a good idea. Does anybody have any suggestions on a good gift that most men would like? and if anybody has a good book suggestion to buy for my dad then please tell me.

Hello Lucyalicia! I too have the hardest time trying to buy gifts for my father. He doesn't have to many interests beyond work and drag-racing, and you can only buy a man so many 'car gifts' over the years.
Last year I gave my dad a ticket to the casino. I put the money into a machine at the casino and cashed out. I put the cash out ticket in a birthday card so that he could go gamble the money away without having to worry!! Next year he might get a box of five dollar chips!
But if your dad is interested in books, perhaps you could use this idea. You could buy him a gift certificate from a bookstore. I am not too familiar with Amazon but I am pretty sure you can buy about anything. Can you buy gift certificates? Maybe you could give him 20-30 dollars to spend on Amazon himself. That way he can choose a book, or maybe something he needs for his vacation trip! Hope this helps!

thanks for the idea, that sounds good. the only thing is though that the credit I have is basically a gift card in itself, I got it from doing work on Mturk, you can either put it towards credit or cash it out into your bank account. I wish I could put it into paypal lol that would be the best option I think. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has so much trouble trying to find a gift, I just bought him a gift not too long ago for Father's Day and he loved it, it was a book lol but he finished it a while back and he want's another one. I used up my smart idea so I'm still thinking over more book ideas, or something else if I can come up with anything lol. I asked him what he wanted and he said he couldn't think of anything.

Does your Dad like to write at all? They have these really neat fill-in the blank autobiography books out now.
These books make for an awesome gift that will keep giving over the years. Each page has different thoughtful questions, such as "What is the craziest thing you have ever done", or "What was your childhood dream". It will give your dad the chance to reflect on his life and also share his most favorite experiences with you! These books have places for small keepsakes as well, like photographs, movie tickets... whatever your dad would like to include. They are pretty neat and I am sure you can find them at Amazon!

thanks for the ideas, I'll definitely look into them, I think when I find the right gift I'll just know and be like, thats it! He'll love that and I'll feel completely confident that he'll like it. The question of what is the craziest thing you've ever done, not a question you want to share with your child about though, ha. thanks a bunch for the ideas :)
