Trying to Confuse my Metabolism

I downloaded this eating plan that promises to confuse my metabolism and thus will aid in my losing some weight. I regained 6lbs of the 27 that I had lost last year.
Since I am easily confused and there are four meals a day I thought that this would be great for me. You stay on the plan for 11 days and then you have 3 cheat days where you are not restricted and then start again and can download a new menu list if you want to.
Day 1 was a piece of cake but today (day 2) is THREE meals of fruit and then a deli sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce and onions. It was really hard and when I had my sandwich this evening I relished each mouthful of bread. It was probably the largest sandwich ever as I was so hungry but I did keep to only two slices of bread.
In a few days I have a whole day of veggies only and no sandwich However each meal may have one ounce of cheese or a low calorie dressing. That day will be more than a challenge if I can get through that day then I would feel so successful.
Speaks to metabolism: Are you becoming confused yet?
Ah well - nine more days to go and then I will broadcast how much weight I have lost. I really want to lose the weight I put on and want to go down another dress size. How do you lose weight? Don't tell me to increase exercise - I can't as |I get too exhausted. Do you need to lose weight? Does your metabolism need confusing?

Yes I need to lose weight. I gained a lot back rather quickly when I started working this job. Probably from stress and lack of time. I just haven't done anything lately towards losing weight.

Yes, it is a mindset, and right now my mind is focused on other things, like school and work, and more recently my father in law's health etc.

You just have to have the mindset to lose weight. when you weren't working you had the time to go to the gym and burn it off.

I need to lose weight. And my problem is definitely exercise. As I'm on disability, I don't get out and about nearly as much as the average person. Thus I really need to consistently exercise. In the summer that never happens (100 plus temps) so when fall rolls around I'm ready to start taking more walks. I'm more likely to lose weight in the fall or winter than the summer.

This is my problem as it is so hot here and I am not a morning person to walk when it is cool. I walk around at work and make sure to climb the stairs of the buildings so this is about all that I do. And at night I really am too tired to exercise Walking in cool weather is great

I am trying to lose a few pounds myself! I have been watching my portions...and cut out eating ice cream after supper....that seems to have helped a bit. I have lost 10 pounds so far and need to lose about 10 more...it's a struggle. Like you I can't exercise.....my knees can't take it!

Oh Jill this is marvellous. You have done so well. Many congratulations and I hope that you get to lose the next 10 lbs. To lose 20 for me would be amazing but I did it last year but put about 6lbs on again. I am going for fifteen pounds. Really I would like to drop another dress size so here's hoping

With all of the stress that I've been through in the past several months, I know that I've put some weight on and I'm not happy about it at all. That said, I really think that my metabolism could certainly use some confusing to help me to get back on track with losing weight. However, it is going to have to wait until Tom's chemo is done because right now the diet plan is that he is allowed to eat whatever he wants to eat when he wants to eat it and that does make things somewhat difficult for maintaining a healthy diet.

My metabolism could probably use some confusing. I am awful at diets. I have to count on exercise. I have been going at it sort of regularly for a few months and have more energy now. I am not aware of losing actual weight but my clothes feel better and hubby indicates that some of the parts I cannot see are more firm. If I ate a salad and had to choose an ounce of cheese or a lo cal dressing, I would cheat. Instead of dressing, I would top it with salsa, then have the cheese. The salsa counts as veggies and has lots of nutrients and taste without ruining the diet. I just have to eat smaller portions. I feel a lot better if I do that as well.

What a great idea and I have salsa in the fridge. I walk but not into weights or anything like that. There is no restriction on portions but I have to keep with the menu for each meal. Am definitely going for the salsa - really appreciate this idea

Hi Cynthiann,
Well, I don't have tons of experience in dieting because by nature, I've mostly been underweight and doing kind of the opposite...trying to gain. Still there have been times when certain meds or whatever have caused me to gain more than I care to. I've never followed a diet plan but the one you described is very similar to what I stick to if I have a few pounds I want to get rid of. Veggies and fruits are mostly pretty low in calories so you can eat quite a bit. Iced water helps too in tricking the metabolism. Your pee is warm and the body has to work to warm up that iced water. I never stressed too much about it. I actually think that thinking too much about NOT eating certain foods or looking forward to a day that you can indulge makes the cravings even worse. If I really really wanted pizza or a cheeseburger then I'd just have it and be done with it. I pretty much maintain a healthy weight of 123 lbs by just eating mainly healthy foods. Another trick is bouilionn cubes. They make a chicken or beef broth and are only 5 calories but will fill you up in between meals and help to avoid things like chips and sweets.

I'm a bread eater too so I feel your pain. That and I just love mashed potatoes! I was addicted to chips and did manage to cut those out entirely and don't even crave them at all now. I'm not a big fan of Miracle Whip but it does have about half the calories of Mayo so I was using that until I discovered the Kraft Mayo with Olive oil...only 45 calories per serving! I eat wheat or oatmeal bread and justify the calories for the fiber as long as the filling is something like cukes, tuna or veges or egg salad. I don't drink soda but sometimes I do add flavor packets to my water. They are good and only 5 calories each. Oh and I've seen your pics and you don't look overweight at all.Good luck and keep us posted on your results!

You are kind but I am overweight - if it was the wedding pics then I was wearing a really expensive spanx I had pout on weight before the wedding just stress eating.
I adore mashed potatoes too and any kind of bread. I have ony had 2 slices of bread since I started and today is day 5. Dreading day 8 as that is veggies for the four meals with a bit of cheese or dressing on them at each meal.I have increased my water intake and am peeing like crazy.
I don't use mayo much at all and usually use the low fat one unless I am entertaining. then I like to use real mayo. I will look out for the Kraft one with mayo. Tuna is part of my diet and lots of fish. I only eat white fillet so it is getting a bt boring but bought some salsa today as that is allowed so am going to use it to spice things up a bit. One person who responded told me to try it.
If I haven't lost at least 6 pounds by day 11 then I might just slit my throat

What a great response! I have increased my water intake too. Fats are the culprits with me plus I am an emotional eater You should be so proud of yourself. If I got to 140 I would be so happy. I never thought of the bouillon cubes and so will get some today. I am also a bread eater but have only had one sandwich. Today is my 5th day so another 6 days to go before I get the three cheat days. But on the 3 cheat days I must not eat too much fat so I will keep it low. I will keep you informed

cynthiann,
I am unsure if we could actually "convince" your body to react to what you are trying to introduce it to. But, I just want you to proceed this with caution because the process involves ingesting food into your body.
I believe such process requires a certain degree of fact finding and understanding if your body has certain breakdown reaction to certain kind of food like if your body has a problem reacting to sugar or fats (processed or natural or both) which is the main catylst of unnecessary weight gain.
Now this understanding is necessary and very relevant especially when you choose your food. Correct me if I am wrong because I do believe that with this understanding you can avoid these certain group of foods to make your dieting more successful.
Last but not least, you should pay attention to any abnormal reactions that might occur during your diet and seek professional advice when you have unanswered questions.
Take care.

As usual my friend - a well reasoned and informative answer. I have cut down drastically with fats and bad carbs. The fruit day was challenging but there was a deli sandwich for the last meal of the day. I know that the veggie day will be the worse. I will read more about it and let you now what happens. Thank you for your concern

I am not sure I need any more confusion in my life lol! I hope you have success with this plan as it sounds as though you are working hard at sticking to it. I recently lost 6 kg without dieting. I am not a breakfast eater so I do not usually eat anything before midday; I am not advocating that to be healthy but that is just me. When I do eat I only do so if I’m hungry and in order to lose the weight I focused on portion size. I read somewhere that your stomach is only as big as your fist so, keeping that in mind I cut back on meal sizes and the weight came off easily. I use the same premise to maintain my current size. Good luck, I look forward to hearing how much you lost...

You are so right as I do have problems with portion control. there is no limit on the amount of food to eat at a particular meal but you should only eat until you are full - not stuffed. Just the only fruit day and only veggie day that will be very hard Your loss is amazing - many congratulations.

First off, I think my metabolism has been more confused these days more than ever. It still thinks it has the same rate as when I was a teenager. It still thinks I can eat whenever and whatever without gaining any weight.
Unfortunately this isn't the case anymore, as I've been steadily gaining weight. I think this confusion all started when I changed jobs from a constantly-running-around-the-plant, to a sit-down-desk job.
Goodluck with your diet!

Today is day 5 and I did hop on the scales and have lost a few pounds. I just want a jump start - I really know what to do. I just have to move it - move it and move it some more. It is lack of exercise and my love of fatty things but I have been so good. The fruit day was hard but I could have a deli sandwich at nght. I so enjoyed it. Day will be the worst and it is veggies all day - four meals of veggies with an ounce of cheese or dressing each time. If I can get through that I will feel so proud of myself I have about a month to drop at least 12lbs and I am going to try and do it. Then I plan to ave 3 vegetarian meals for dinner a week and try and maintain the loss.
