What factors led to the emergence of religion?

There are also suggestions that the meaning of the word religion has not messed up. If it can be interpreted so, then this could have a religious word meaning virtue of running a rule to avoid confusion in this life whose goal is to achieve prosperity and happiness.
Thus, it can be concluded that the emergence of religion in this world is to avoid confusion, the wrong view of life, and so forth, which occur at different times and places; to obtain a prosperous life and supreme happiness. Indeed, every person in this world would want the happiness and peace in his life. This is the reason why people want to find the right path that can bring them to a purpose, which is an absolute happiness free from all forms of suffering. All the religions of the world arise because of this reason.

God loved His creation so much that He wanted to tell them the best way to live. The way that would benefit them the most was to live by His precepts. True religion emerged because God wanted to make Himself known to His creation.
All the false religions came about because, 1) people don't like the truth unless they agree with it, and 2) everyone has a drive to know their origin, their purpose, their morality and their destiny. These are the 4 questions that every religion must attempt to answer. The problem is that only the true religion, (the Word of the One Living God), is able to adequately answer these questions.

I personally believe that religion is similar to law. This law acts as a path to peace and harmony like you stated. It's a belief people hang on to, to resist temptation, following the right path. Without religion, people may be blinded by temptation, world thing as so, as they have nothing to relay on. With the right teaching, people will refrain from doing things outside the religion. So yea. That would be my explanation on religion. XD
